The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Guys... quick question...

I did a software update, then I did a hardware reset a few days later cos my music collection (track names) was all funked up.

Question is... Do I now have to do the software update again?

Downloaded and installed this... must say its a bit boring... a bit like the iphone... i dont know.. im a kinda of guy who likes my home screen / panel to have as much info on it as possible without having to go into it.. i am waiting for the new home2 pro to come out... looks like i will be getting that asap!

I am actually waiting for the latest SPB mobile shell to come out (version 3) been using version 2 on all my wm fones so far n i think its brilliant. im not using the panel one provided by SE but the standalone one on my main home panel...great stuff
 
anyone in the bryanston/sandton area [or even hatfield/pta over the weekend] with a x1 and willing to meet up??
id like to compare phones as i will be returning mine next week due to some build quality issues. ill be in the area on monday so if anyone is there please let me know. ive been struggling to find a live unit at vodacom but it seems all the vodaphone units are dodgy!

Got my experia for about a month, happy so far but think it's about time to try touch flo, need advise on pro's and cons, what would be the best solution rom change or installing cabs, any experience's using it currently using spb but the temptation to try touch is overwhelming. Also what is the best vpn solution you guys use.
 
CON .... it WILL slow your phone down, it does look pretty, but even latest versions still will lag your phone quiete a bit. also its the biggest nightmare to uninstall. only proper way to remove is hard reset.

ps have you tried spb shell 2

I installed TF3D, after I flashed new ROM.
The phone is REALLY slow, and like kvi said, you have to do hard reset to remove remove it.
Don't waste your time. But if you do, remeber to back up.
But I promise you, you WILL uninstall it again

Did the same... looks really nice and everything, but far too slow... Pity really... but then again, the phone wasnt made for it...

Really looking forward to the new panels SE is releasing at the end of this month... mainly the "on the road" panel... also, Home2 Pro should be good. wouldnt mind paying for that.
 
Question: What do you guys use to backup your phone... Not talking about the contacts and stuff like that... talking about backing up software and settings... i have re-done my phone 3 times now and its a pain re-installing everything and setting up my email accounts again... very painfull...

any thoughts?

PLUS... install a really cool app that lets you browse the wifi network you connected on... if there are shared folders of course... you can even open files and stuff... very cool..

Hi All

Got my phone for just about a month as well, my first WM phone, still trying to personalize it to the way I would like it to be. Not using all the phones features yet, but I'm sure I will get there. Just wanted to know, is there anybody who is on the MTN contract who's also paying R2/MB (which is ridiculous, BTW) or do you buy an additional data bundle and if so, can you buy it with the R350 airtime you get monthly or do you have to fork out the extra money? Also where can I purchase an inexpensive, durable pouch? :) I'm in CT in case you were wondering...:cool:
 
Thanks guys i think i leave the touch flo, installed spb 2 and so far so good waiting for version 3 looks awesome also tried home 2 pannel but spb still rules especially contacts, just looking for better sms interface will let u guys know as soon as i find one.
 
where did we land in setting our weather regions? im in east london :( only got pe and cant seem to edit the file with the list to include EL due to the fact it being a read only file in the rom

some one please try help

Here is what I can do

1. Ping my computer and any other computer from any computer connected to both wired and wireless network
2. access the files on my computer from any other pc in the house
3. stream music to and from my pc to any pc in the house
4. ping my Phone from my pc
5. connect to the internet though the wireless network, using my phone.


What I cant do

1. ping my pc from my phone
2. connect to shared files on my pc from my phone


Let me know if there is something I am doing wrong or any settings to check or anything else I can do to get this working please
 
yes the one from the thread I started on xdadev. the network plugin one....

FINALLY got my X1 this morning. Am now running Itje's Touch-IT 4.0 II ROM and Radio version 1.11.25.76.

Will report back.
 
whats special about that rom? you get it off xda?
