The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Ok, im on Day 5 now on my X1;

--Dissapointed, lazy Wayfinder Trial (Marine1 please pm me ur email adress, ill pay for shipping on the Tomtom Items. Please)
--Had some issues with WLM on the device, had to create new Internet connections and change settings around. Also browsers stopped working after foolin around with the settings. WM6.1 < WM6 Stantard
--As a multimedia phone this plays very few formats of files.
--PanelSwitcher and window switches are slow.

========================================================

I am however very happy with:

--Boot times are impressive compared to my old VOX
--According to some reviews, I was not expecting the 8GB card with the phone.
--WM6.1 is way flexible compared to the 6.0 standard on the VOX.

Apps + Tweaks

.net cf 3.5
Paco X1 Softtouch 01
Xperia Tweak 2.0
SD Tuneup
Adobe Flashlite
Core Player

=======================
DO NOT INSTALL HTORCH!!!!!!
-----------------------------
Apparently this app switches your LED to bright, wich after more than 30 seconds melts your glue off the LED( wich is not heatsinkd ) your led will move in the cover, and with excessive use, it will fail (epically +/- 10% power/brightness left in it)

Any advice on speeding up this device some more? I feel dodgy thinking about flashing with the Generic Rom. Its just to soon, my stomach always churns when thinking about the possibility of brick-ing my new phone. (Took me 8 months before I had the guts to flash the VOX)

I got myself a screen protector, and a CAPDASE, Silicon/Semi Rigid casing(2Piece) Am however looking for a stylus Lime/neon endpiece as I keep on misplacing it. Ive already lost one.

(Has anybody got any Idea on how to Force HSDPA on the device? 24/7)

my "Xperia"ence :rolleyes:

BTW, Has anybody got any experience of getting mapit Map & Travel Navigator South Africa working with the internal GPS on a WinMo device? I cant seem to detect the internal GPS reciever on my version. I dont know if there is something wrong in the product if it is damaged or perhaps fractured/cracked but I just install my copy on the PC, it doesnt ask to register or enter licence key or anything. (Could this be why the GPS is not connecting?) Then sync it straight to PPC. On the PPC i get some german message about an update. But the program runs fine. 100% oh no thats about 75% (25% allocated to the GPS not detecting.)

Help Please

whats special about that rom? you get it off xda?

Yeah, I got it of XDA. it has touchflo 3D & panels, based of the newest windows ce release & includes a lot of the rodium apps. fast enough, panels is too slow for me though. Manila based dialer is cool. all in all, not bad. still far from perfect.

currently the best radio for the X1

God help you if you don't have a Hard_SPL bootloader flashed before you ROM update to this. When you take back your broken phone to Sony Ericsson they will laugh at you and then show you the door.

Eish, this is why im nervous about Flashing... i remember how many motherboards we used to trow away as kids, after flashing failures. A X1 is a bit more valueable than a 500-600rand asus baord. :( Im scared... LOL.

I think ill just stick with the standard Vodafone rom.

i totally get that. Hard spl is the surefire way of NOT bricking your device when flash goes bad.

Pretty sure i'tll void the warranty though.

I do this because i'm pretty familiar with it, and because i'm trusting i can just flash back the original bootloader and vodafone ROM if something DOES go wrong with the phone.

Installing the new tomtom is a bit of a bitch, innit? where do you copy the maps folder to on the device? mine won't pick up the map.

right,

just so you know, the trick with installing tt v7.915 is HAVING THE RIGHT COPY!

Hey guys anyone using voip on x1, tried the following solutions
Sj phone works well only problem has to be on loud speaker
Fring works well except the lagg is a bit much as the sip goes through their servers first.

Remember on nokia internet calling was built in just like a regular call, any one know if something like this hides some where in the win mo settings

Thanks hope dont have to go back to symbian just for voip

Any of you guys tried PointUI Home yet?

used it looks quite good but still spb mobile shell rule in functionality , use the full version not pannel also if you looking for a good keyboard try resco keyboard its an ifone type keyboard

Actually guys, I'm digging Home2! The community has tonnes of available Applets and they're constantly working on them. They also have wicked themes and it's so lightweight that it doesn't do much to bear down your phone.

I've noticed one or two mem leaks causing a crash, but nothing that can't be sorted with a quick reset ...

There's no such thing as a quick reset with the X1. I just find that Touchflo 3D II is the most usefull.

laggy? what lag?

panels are still a bit laggy, but I don't really use them.
