The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

3 new panels are now available:
2 Spb Panels (trials)
On-The-Road Panel (looks pretty nice, but not 100% sure it does when using the GPS)

It tracks your movement, and i think saves it on google maps... also tells you how far you have driven while its active and recording...

Hey.

I see on a few software topics on xda they are talking about a "Panel Manager"... but apparently its only available on R3A? Is there a new update? As you might have all notcied, i downgraded my phone back to stock firmware.. i have R2a... just checked to see if there is an update (vodacom), via update manager, and there is none.. do you guys who have generic_uk got a new update?

I have installed the new panel manager, but there seems to only be some cosmetic changes, like selecting new panels.
Oh, it's also about twice as fast.

also installed it... installed the growing panel which is pretty gimmicky, but awesome... phone is a bit slow with the new growing panel... assuming im not meant to have it yet as r3a isnt release yet..

any ideas of when it will be?

Sweet got TTN working. Best GPS program ive used. wayfinder can go play in the traffic. Can someone tell me what the different radios do? and what difference they make to the phone?

Wanted to get a X1 for my wife over the weekend, so off to Vodaworld we went... NO STOCK

Does anyone know of any Vodashops in the JHB area that have stock - preferably in BLACK?

I will play with her X1 for a couple of days before deciding on a X1 or a Touch HD for myself.

I use that radio version, works really well.

Stupid question.. what does a newer radio version do? i have 1.10.25.18

EDIT: Ignore that... it handles the "radio" as in the the GSM/3g connections... well, updated it to the latest version posted on XDA which is 1.11.25.76. So far so good.

Ok here goes:
Step number:

Sony X1 with south African maps working with Tomtom
1) You must download the cab files to install the actual software from Garmin.
(I can upload them if someone tells me where to do it - I do have a rapidshare account)

2) Once you have downloaded the cabs, there are 4 in total but you only need to use one, I am not sure which one but I think it will be the "TTN_7.910.9185_Unsigned" Cab file. I would put it in the memory card via your pc.

3) Navigate to your card and click on the file and it will install the actual Navcore software (this is the actual Tomtom program). Once this is done you should see tomtom on your home screen. If you try and run the program, it will let you set it up but you will have no maps. and you would now need to crack the maps as well. You would need your device ID. Search for the following file: "ttnavigator.bif" open with Notepad and you will see the device id and will need this to crack.
I have the tool to crack as well.

4) you need the latest maps for South africa which are :Southern Africa 730, I also have these so dont worry.

5) you now need to copy the map folder which should read: "Southern Africa 730.2001" into your device\documents
You now have the maps without any voices though. You need to install the voices and sounds which I can also upload. This would be in the \program files\navigator.

Now you are all set to go, the first lock on to Satellites takes a while but then is fast.
I am really upset it does not come free, google maps is a joke and this is where my Iphone falls behind.
Please ask if it doesnt work.
I hope it does.

i have installed the cab and got the maps for tomtom and have found my uniquedevice id, however when i use the command prompt to get the keygen to generate the meta.dct file, it doesnt recognise the command...can u pls show me the correct command to crack the map using the keygen pls. thanks.

Step 1. make sure keymaker and Southern_Africa-19.meta and meta.txt are in 1 directory
Step 2. Ensure meta.txt contains "; Southern_Africa_730_2001
9C 80 86 B3 D1 D7 B2 06 FC EA F9 97 FC 3D 32 E4 Southern_Africa-19.meta"
Step 3. enter following into cmd line
-cd "DIRECTORY WHERE YOU PUT keymaker"
-tt7_keygen.exe "DIRECTORY WHERE YOU PUT keymaker" UNIQUEID
above must be with quotes if there are spaces, but just do it to be sure. it is easier if you put both kegen and meta in same dir say C:\ttn\

Step 4. copy generated file: "Southern_Africa-19.meta.dct" to South African map folder on phone
