Ok here goes:
Step number:
Sony X1 with south African maps working with Tomtom
1) You must download the cab files to install the actual software from Garmin.
(I can upload them if someone tells me where to do it - I do have a rapidshare account)
2) Once you have downloaded the cabs, there are 4 in total but you only need to use one, I am not sure which one but I think it will be the "TTN_7.910.9185_Unsigned" Cab file. I would put it in the memory card via your pc.
3) Navigate to your card and click on the file and it will install the actual Navcore software (this is the actual Tomtom program). Once this is done you should see tomtom on your home screen. If you try and run the program, it will let you set it up but you will have no maps. and you would now need to crack the maps as well. You would need your device ID. Search for the following file: "ttnavigator.bif" open with Notepad and you will see the device id and will need this to crack.
I have the tool to crack as well.
4) you need the latest maps for South africa which are :Southern Africa 730, I also have these so dont worry.
5) you now need to copy the map folder which should read: "Southern Africa 730.2001" into your device\documents
You now have the maps without any voices though. You need to install the voices and sounds which I can also upload. This would be in the \program files\navigator.
Now you are all set to go, the first lock on to Satellites takes a while but then is fast.
I am really upset it does not come free, google maps is a joke and this is where my Iphone falls behind.
Please ask if it doesnt work.
I hope it does.
