The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Hi

Kvi i was also wondering about that but remember seeing something on xda way back late last year i think or possibly early this year.

i think this question has been answered before so sorry for asking again but i did look and just could not find it. I want to use my X1 as a modem so i can surf the net on my laptop. Running xp, when i connect via usb it says new hardware detected and asks to install software but the only software i got was the gps software.

Any ideas

not sure if you referring to:

Start -> programs -> Internet sharing
Then choose usb in the drop down and whichever network connection you would like to use to connect. Mine currently says
MTN SA web"
Once chosen, press the "connect" softkey and connect your phone via usb to yr pc...

anyone having trouble picking up internal gps reciever through garmin xt?
 
sorry tsponge.... mine always been fine. but then again i aint installed garmin since i been the touchx route, hmmmm wonder if touch x broke it?

i use regular garmin device

ps. new touch x 7 being uploaded as we speak :)
 
touchx? from XDA?

however it seems that smaberg uses rapidshare, and the free download on rapidshare is a curse, i usually end up buying a 3 day premium account for that.
 
guys does anyone know of a local ftp/file sharing so only one of us has to download
 
flippen good idea there dalmine, i bought rapidshare premium so the download is nearly complete here.... maybe we just stick it up on 4shared? thats free and pretty fast i think.

or else i dont mind sharing my rapidshare premuim with my "few select x1 brothers" here :)

free Rapidshare is dropping the ball the whole time. Get to around halfway-ish(3-4hrs worth of downloading) and then the connection drops. feck

xperia tweak also removes it.

sooo.. everyone is on touch-x... been out of the loop a bit...
i installed r3a, seems to be faster, no change or new apps, but performance is a bit better..

funny story: a while ago i posted that my vibrating module was burnt out thanks to h-torch... even went through the process of re-branding my phone to claim from warrantee... but just never got around to it. so all this time my x1 never vibrated.

then last night, i went out, and after a couple of drinks, i tried to put my phone in my pocket, and missed the pocket only for it to hit the ground... the battery and battery cover came off...
i put everything back together again and turned on the phone, and i felt a vibration... !:eek:

to cut an already long story short, my vibrating module works 100% again!
 
interesting story about the vibrate module on x1.... saw it somewhere on x1
most phones have a spinning mini motor with a offset weight for the vibrate function.
X1 doesnt, it has a electromagnet vibration. using much less power than a motor

any ideas why mine needed a 6ft fall for it to work alll of a sudden?

also, is touch-x REALLY that good? i installed touch-it once, and i thought it was very slow, and well, crap.

on this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493848, it has the rom ffor Touch X ULTIMATE 6.2 RHODIUM edition . must i get that one?
then further down that page, it has a while bunch of .cab files? what are they for? for the touch-x rom?

ok touchx v7.0 now STRONG.
just installed, feels good. XDA forums not showing any issues other than one fix released for "the 6 locked start items" (lol whatever that is)

unfortunately only available on rapidshare.... if you wanna use my rapidshare account just shout :)
 
Hi guys

KVI tell us how much different is it too 6.12b. I am running that now and its very good, not real complaints just that little sms sent message, that takes forever to go away.

Besides that its much smoother than what it was before when i was using at as a panel and batt life seems much better than the stock SE ROM

Keep us updated.
 
howzit guys. garmin now working... was just a stupid mistake. internet is almost finished. will try download 7. my only issue is with the power saving. when it clocks the cpu down to like 60 mhz then phone call ringing is delayed by like 10 seconds or more and so i often miss calls. anyone else having that problem?
 
you wont really notice anything vastly different, but just smoother faster, more refined.
im loving loving it. wont need to upgrade for a while after this

that pesky sms sent is GONE for good with me, running a little sms app, no idea offhand where i got it or what its called now, pm an email add and i send it to you quick
