10.1 on the ftp site is the regular green skinned one. after that they released a 10.1 with a blue skin which it seems will be my final touchX rom. its perfect and it seems the author "smaber" is retiring from rom cooking
(well my theory is he has been bought out by SE or HTC or other:) )

@ kvi can you give me a link to the 10.1 (blue) rom as i only hear good things :D
 
Hi guys,

My wife got her new Nokia E71 over the weekend. We were having coffee at Sevens in pineslopes, fourways area. We both decided to download a few ringtones. I was extremely appalled at the speed I was getting (on my xperia). For every 7 songs she downloaded, I downloaded one! :( We were both downloading from the same site, and we are both on mtn). I was on 3g mode (with hsdpa disabled) , but noticed that it did dip/switch to edge fairly often during the download.

Any thoughts why so shockingly slow?

Further info:
I have the default roms (1.02.931.3) and radio (1.06.25.29)

Not sure what the latest and 'correct' version i should use, but
If I want to install the new rom, which site/version should I use:

Not interested (yet) in any cooked roms and simply want the latest official rom for phone, but need a lil bit of help on this please.

I hope to retest my downloading speed at the same place, with hsdpa enabled as my wife was laughing at my poor phone, teasing me on how slow it was. Maybe I'll get some pride back.
 
Hey guys

Just a quick question when you using you phone as a modem is one billed separately for data usage or does it come off ones anytime(MTN) free minutes??

I was told 2 mtn call centre ops that its get deducted off ones free airtime. Then this morning another op told me it doesnt.

I surfed the net last night have about 307 free rands airtime and after logging off noticed i had a billing fee of R13 and still had 307 free rands airtime.

Anyone know what real deal is??
 
hey zero i reckon you should post this on the mtn normal threads. i reckon the guys there would be able to help you quite quick

just installed touchx10.1, there's a bit on the xda developers post which mentions that
During the last steps of installation the phone seems to hang, it dosn't! -just wait,wait and wait then it reboots and it's finished!

Been waiting like 15 mins and no reboot yet.

How long should i wait for before I attempt again?
 
that seems to only apply to older versions, mine also did not reboot
 
ok... thanks to Smabergs retirement i found our x1 thread down on page four of the forums... SHOCKING gulp, but i spose it also means that Smaberg did such a good job we are all just getting on with life and mobility ;)

well, ive got ROM flashing withdrawels guys... so ive done a bit of homework
and it seems as if most chefs are now cooking solely for the new WM6.5 , when i tried 6.5 a couple months back it was dodgy and very buggy so i dropped that direction.
but now that Smaberg is pretty much done, im going to find a new "FIX" :)

so if you guys want to follow me in this new venture i will keep you all posted and updated as to whats working and what to steer clear of.

At the moment im downloading WC10X concept and Valkyrie v1.95, both have serious continued development and followers (both WM6.5)

now to decide which one to flash first, WC10X seems more inticing :)
 
Hi guys,

Is there a way that I can use my X1 as a modem to do a dail up connection in Windows 7? I did this with my Nokia N81...

i was quite surprised when i couldnt find this page, i had to use gmail to find the notification!

ya it sucks that smaberg has 'retired'. atleast he left us with quite a decent rom

keep us posted on 6.5

in the meanwhile im thinking of doing the desk stand mod

ok we're in business :) ive got a big grin on my face
i installed Valkyrie 1.95 first..... twas good. then i installed WC10X. was good but felt more sluggish, so i went back to Valkyrie. ITS FAST. solid, no crashes, no bugs (well that i can see) remember im not testing this thing with bluetooth headsets and wifi setup etc, im just playing around with normal phone/messaging/net stuff

this is GOOOOD. wow, im having more fun with this ROM than with TouchX

sounds cool but i have a few questions ,how is your battery life and how is the speed of Valkyrie compared to touch x ,it is more(better) finger friendly than touch x :)
 
battery SEEMS awesome. i was on 63% last night, now im on 60%.

my impression of the speed is its as fast or geez maybe even better than touchX. would like a couple more people to chime in on that tho..... hey this is totally all experimentation.

what i like about this Rom is that you can run in WM6.5 mode (the new up/down menu) or you can switch to touchflo (ala touchX feel) and the touchflo feels good and fast. and even while in touchflo you are now have all the wm6.5 icons and menus.

its win win

so it automatically reloads Win 6.5 aswell :o ,and is it more fingerfriendly than touch x
