The Tesla Model 3 Thread

$35k puts it in the same ballpark at the Mustang or the Camaro. Stateside those are everyman's cars.

Not to mention that the C class starts at $38,950 and the 3 Series starts at $33,150. These will sell like hotcakes.

Does anybody know if/where there will be dealerships in South Africa (but more specifically Gauteng) to get it serviced. My dad would love one of these but this is the only thing holding him back. When Elon said that there would be a dealership in "pretty much every mid-sized metro area) it said on the screen that that was for "North America, Europe and Asia Pacific".

"The Model 3 will start at $35,000 for the base model. The car will only available by the end of 2017 but bookings have already started for a booking amount of $1000. The Model 3 will have a much more global launch, with North America and Europe being joined by India, Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, and more."

*yes GSMArena has Car news I see...

$1000,00 Deposits now up to 130 000. In hours, Elon has made the equivalent of around R2Bn

Correct, the deposit is refundable and not a binding agreement to purchase the car.

Tesla still have 18 months or more to sit on it and I'm pretty sure the attrition rate will be minimal.

15" landscape screen on this bad boy vs 17" portrait on other Tesla models.

Slightly OT not sure why every publication & Tesla themselves call the Model S a sedan...it does not look like sedan...I'm guessing sedan is just more premium in this sector/pricing level.

They're calling it a sedan because... it's a sedan? I mean, they could call it a fastback saloon or something equally pretentious, but I quite like that they're going with the plain language instead of BMW-style redefinitions. (4-door coupe, anyone?)
