Yeah it will sell like hot cakes, that goes without saying, but its no longer the Number 1 bakkie in SA, and hasn't been for at least 3 or 4 months. The Ranger is outselling it lately.

I think it was just a month or two that the ranger outsold it in, Hilux was back to top spot AFAIK.

I think a lot of fleets still buy the Toyota... Private buyers tend to prefer the Ford
Note, this is just my observation :)

Yeah seem to remember that for the last three or four months they've traded the top spot. To be fair the current Ranger has the Hilux licked in all categories bar reliability (apparently the Ranger likes Turbos and Gearboxes a bit too much), but it will be interesting to see how the two new models stack up.

I will say this, the Ranger in Wildtrak trim looks **** hot.

Agreed, esp from a commercial point of view, I've heard many horror stories of rangers bought by companies being in the shop too damned often... I think they don't like high mileage very much.

Will be very interesting, since the Ranger is a facelift so they can work on reliability whereas the Hilux is apparently all new in the engine department so may start suffering reliability issues.

Hilux beat the Ranger in the whole of 2014 (bar November), and January, February and March of 2015. They sold a boat load of Rangers in April, though, was top there.

And this is against a 10 year old bakkie...

You want to tell me the new one won't outsell it?

The Ranger is better in just about every way. The fact that the Hilux outsells it tells me more about brand loyalty than anything else.
