Liberty Walk Kit For The Toyota Supra Is Wide And Wild

Liberty Walk is famous for its wild and wide-body kits and now their Toyota Supra offering is in production for those looking for a little extra something.

As expected, the kit extends the length of the car thanks to a new front splitter that sticks out from the bumper. It attaches to a set of massively flared fenders, and, as if they aren’t wide enough, there are canards that stick out even farther at the lower edges.

The tuner did not touch the 3.0-litre inline-six which means you will get the 382 hp (285 kW) and 500 Nm of torque.

Toyota announced that it would reproduce replacement parts for its 2000GT. Launched in 1967 through a collaboration with Yamaha, the car had a production-run of three years, in which 337 units were produced for a global audience.

At the time, the 2000GT made use of a 2.0-litre straight-six engine, four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, magnesium alloy wheels, and retractable headlamps. Apart from these features, it had a top speed of 220km/h, which puts it on par with some of today's cars.

Toyota to drop M3 engine into Supra for ‘final edition’ model – report

A fresh report out of Japan claims Toyota plans to drop the new BMW M3’s engine into the Supra to create a GRMN-badged “final edition”.

According to Japanese publication Best Car, Toyota will end production of the A90-generation Supra in 2025. In 2023, however, the Supra GRMN will appear as a “final edition”, claims the report.

This special Supra, says the publication, will gain the BMW M division’s latest turbocharged 3,0-litre straight-six engine, expected to match the 375 kW output of the Competition-badged versions of the upcoming M3 and M4.

Nissan 400Z? Toyota says it's 'not fearful' of competition for Supra

A high-ranking Toyota executive in Australia says the company is “not fearful of competition” for its Supra, with Nissan currently developing a replacement for the 370Z.

In May 2020, Nissan has released a teaser video giving us our first glimpse of the upcoming replacement for the 370Z sportscar. Expected to be called the 400Z, the newcomer looks set to be positioned as a rival to the GR Supra.

“We’re not fearful of competition,” Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss, told motoring.com.au. “I would welcome competition particularly in this space. There’s nothing like good rivalry to keep interest in the segment.

Liberty Walk has been teasing its wide body kit for the Toyota GR Supra for quite some time. Now, however, full details have emerged.

The comprehensive body kit gives the Japanese sportscar an aggressive and track-inspired look.

Starting at the front, the Liberty Walk Supra features a canard and lip, while the rear sports a diffuser and large wing. The car is far wider than standard thanks to the flared wheel arches, rear fenders, side skirts and door panels. Additionally, a custom bonnet with air intakes can be specified.

The Four-Cylinder Supra Is Just OK

As a sports car, a driver’s car, it left me a little unsatisfied. The bottom line is that Supra 2.0 just felt too numb to thrash and a touch too stiff luxuriate in. Frankly, I had the exact same problem in the 2020 six-cylinder car I drove. If your tastes differ, I could understand falling in love with the look and having enough fun with the novelty of a new Supra. It’s not for me, though. Which feels weird to write, as a huge fan of the exterior design.

For those who do get seduced by the Supra, I would suggest seriously considering the 255-horsepower 2.0 over the 382-HP 3.0. The less expensive car’s got it where it counts: the name and the look. The acceleration is sufficient.

The last time I drove an in-line 6 Supra it made only 335 HP, and the bump for 2021 is pretty serious, but zoom isn’t what I thought the car was missing. It’s soul that the car still needs to find, regardless of which engine it has.

The Four-Cylinder Supra Is Just OK - Jalopnik

Few cars have caused me as much inner conflict as the new Supra. It’s so cool that this nameplate is back! Bummer it’s not an original Toyota product.
