The truth about Openweb

I've been blocked from posting on their Facebook page, but it's sad because I'd love to inform their 30,000 'likes' about all their BS!

Same here! But fck did I put up a crusade with fake accounts

1. All accounts get SHAPED and/or THROTTLED to death... Yet its clearly stated on their website you would never been THROTTLED. During the day my speed seldom exceed 40kbps on a 4mb account

http://businesstech.co.za/news/columns/57789/throttling-is-ridiculous-isp/

2. Only "ISP" that don't keep track of your usage, but LOTS of OW accounts are being SHARED. I got the proof of my account being shared

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=122933&d=1401832605

3. Access to http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ & http://users.isdsl.net/ blocked and they are lying about usage stats when they are in fact correct and because it was too easy to see account sharing and correct usage, another lie

3. Resell IS, MTN etc products and thus don't need an office as most of their stuff are done by IS etc anyway. Its called "ISP in a Box". They buy "X" amount of gigs per month from IS, MTN etc and manage it as they see fit, thus the endless types of specials and account types.

4. Only got a handful of employees - Leon, Zelda, Leoni, Charmaine. Athol and Keoma the members of the CC.

5. They use various names - OpenISP, Openweb, Myopenweb etc.

6. Committed FRAUD with their CIPRO registration using a false address etc.

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=124739&d=1402495556

7. Not registered as an ISP with ISPA or ICASA.

https://www.icasa.org.za/Portals/0/Regulations/Licensees/Individual/I-ECS&ECNS-Database_0711.pdf

8. Incorrect Lindekin data.

http://www.linkedin.com/company/openweb.co.za

9. No ability to resolve account issues besides giving out other accounts which are already in use...

10. Blaming Telkom/router for everything yet accounts with other ISP's are working 100%

11. Constant account authentication issues...

12. Their MyBB accounts stopped responding the 9th of May.

13. "I'm afraid due to the destructive nature of the forum, we have suspended support here." The answer I got from OW about MyBB.

"Who is Keoma Wright?
Keoma Wright is a revolutionary IT mogul, radio enthusiast and entrepreneur who is also a born and bred South African citizen. He has achieved a great many firsts in South African web technology in the whirlwind twenty seven years of his life.

It all started with Keoma’s first love – radio. During the period 2003 to 2005, Keoma worked as a radio DJ on KwaZulu-Natal’s hottest jazz radio station, the former P4 radio. He also performed voice overs for many of South Africa’s national brands at this time." - keoma.co.za

Keoma would have started Openweb Radio but it did not materialized yet.

We all dream... but some live in a dream it seem...

Just stating all the known facts. Customers should know whom they deal with.

Quoted!!!

Well done, Thor.

I really got sick of all of OpenWeb`s bull...t

Why fight them? Just leave and find another ISP.

PS. Do a test like this to determine how much Openweb throttles your downloads:

Upload 2 identical files to the same server.
Name the one anything ie. download.zip
Name the second one and add the word "speedtest" to the file ie. download.speedtest.zip

Now test the speeds on both.
The download.speedtest one will break the speed test record whilst the other one will get throttled to death.

I use a premium service for downloading and it`s possible to change the download file`s name before downloading so while I was with OpenWeb I just added .speedtest. to all my download files and they came down at full speed 24/7

Still left OpenWeb and it`s been my best decision yet concerning ISP`s

I just did a test with multiple tries and got these averages.

Speedtest.net - 3.5mbps DL
Other Ookla Speedtests - 2mbps
Testmy.net - 600kbps DL
Testmy.net Multithread - 730kbps
Broadband speed checker - 300kbps

back to speedtest.net and 3.5mbps

If there was another Non Ookla speedtest I would try it.

Just did a 10mb file download test on a 4mb line that according to speedtest.net is currently 3.5mbps.
It took 5min+

Thanks for the headsup blokes, was about to sign up for a "package", not any more.

Well, I signed up for a capped account with openweb.

To my surprise, The accounts are limited to 10mbps speeds, on my 40 meg line, I get 9,39mbps download speed on speedtest.

They are complete ****ing crooks, all they do is steal peoples money. No two ways about it. Since WHEN does a CAPPED UNSHAPED account get limited to 10mbps ????

on my 40MEG Line - Openweb Capped Unshaped -

Don't think there's too many surprised by this, to be honest.

This is precisely the type of garbage one would expect from Keo-ma-se-poos and his athole, Athol.

NO! No f###ing way, NEVER AGAIN!!!

Be warned!!! OpenWeb (the company) is one big scam, they promise you a service, and will NOT deliver, when you complain, they "FIX" it, and give you the service (which you're already paying for anyway) for a week or so, then you have crap service again, so you complain, then they "FIX" it, and give you the service (which you're already paying for anyway) for a week or so, then you have crap service again, so you complain... ... ...
(I think you get the idea by now...)

Wash, Rinse, Repeat...

If you want ENDLESS headaches (constantly calling them, constantly sending them emails, constantly logging requests with them), go ahead, be my guest...

Again, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
