The VW Amarok Thread

New VW Amarok will only be made in SA

The initial misunderstanding about two plants being designated for production has been cleared up in favor of Ford’s Silverton facility.

Ford’s Silverton Plant outside of Pretoria has been confirmed as the only factory given the task of assembling the newcomer, according to Wolfsburg’s President for Latin America, who cleared up any confusion regarding the matter.

The alleged misunderstanding stems from Volkswagen’s $250 million investment in its General Pacheco Plant in Argentina for the production of the Taos SUV as well as the Amarok instead of the hotly contested half-ton Tarok anticipated to replace the dated Saveiro. In a statement obtained by motor1.com Argentina, Pablo Di Si said that a portion of the investment would be used to redesign the first-generation Amarok in 2024, which would continue to be produced at the same plant for some time to come.

“The redesign has already been defined and I can tell you that it is very balanced: neither very aggressive nor not very aggressive,” a translated version of the statement of the read.

Furthermore, according to Di Si, due to the three-year-old joint venture between the Blue Oval and Volkswagen, the new Amarok, which is based on the same T6.2 platform as the new Ford Ranger, Everest, Ranger Raptor, Bronco, and Bronco Raptor, won’t be produced or sold in Latin America at all.

Tuner transforms new Volkswagen Amarok into a high-riding ‘Beast’

Although the new-generation Volkswagen Amarok is based on the Ford Ranger, it won’t be getting a Raptor equivalent at this stage as the Blue Oval seeks to protect its all-conquering bakkie species.

But of course, the after-market sector will have its own ideas and first to the party is a German tuner called Delta 4x4. The company has released the first images of its Amarok-based ‘Beast 2.0’, which it says is coming in 2023.

Delta has yet to release all the details on its badass bakkie contender, but the firm’s social media account states that it will boast a suspension lift kit that raises the vehicle by 150mm, as well as unique Delta 4x4 ‘Bull Egg’ wheels wearing 35-inch off-roading tyres.

The aggressively flared wheel arch mouldings suggest that the Beast 2.0 has a significantly wider track than the standard model.

Furthermore, the modified bakkie has been equipped for overlanding, with a roof rack housing an additional spare wheel and jerry cans. It also boasts a front-mounted winch as well as unique PIAA headlights.

This Amarok ‘Beast’ is the wide-arched adventure truck of your dreams

The all-new Volkswagen Amarok may have only been revealed a couple of months ago, but German tuner Delta4x4 already has plans to turn it into the ultimate off-road adventure truck.

The striking creation you see above will be known as the Amarok Beast, and we’re assured that it’ll sit 150mm higher than the standard car with additional chunky tyres and 18- or 20-inch wheels.

Those wheels will be covered by massive arch extensions, and up front there will be a front bull bar with additional PIAA lighting, plus a winch supplied by Austrian specialists Horntools. Up top there’s a new roof rack to carry all of your important adventure gear.
