The Walking Dead [SPOILERS]

That's why he took Rick on that ride. He needed to break him. To ensure compliance. Rick is his bitch now.
But Maggie is surely alive and at the Hilltop and I have NO doubt that there are some guns hidden off of the books.

Did rick and Carol not do their usual move a while back before Rick took leadership of Alexandria?

Jesus is still up a sleeve somewhere also iirc. He is a useful bugger basically Darryl skills and he knows how to wash and condition his hair.

Crap this is fustrating. Just shoot that d00s already ...

I was thinking the same thing. This type of character is getting annoying real quick. The laughing and joking and being chipper all the time doesn't work on tv as it did in the comic book. It's just so blatantly false.

Loved the episode. Excellent pace; structure; tension...the works. 100% sold on 704. Not at all annoyed by JDM or the character.

Rick & Darryl are broken men hey....Shem...

Negan is a ruthless badass. "In case you haven't caught on: I just slid my dick down your throat and you thanked me for it."

Hate that my copy just ends abruptly.

Lol at this scene...pedo bear smile.

Ah Rick. So many chances to swing Lucille at Negan and end it all. He really is broken. 2 seasons back he would have sorted Negan out easy peazy.

Dafuq?

I hope I'm never in any kind of hostage situation with you guys. What do you think would happen if Rick just iced Negan in front of everyone like that? They'd be wiped out by the rest of Negan's men that's what. Even Negan's own men who unwillingly serve him like Ironface know this, which is why they don't do anything despite having ample opportunity to kill him.

It won't necessarily be a revenge thing either. Killing the leader of an organisation like that is just asking for chaos, and you can be damn sure you'll come off second best when the faction war triggered by the power vacuum begins. That and they'd do it as a warning to the other settlements so that they don't get any ideas about rebellion.

If you want to take out Negan you'd better be sure you can kill the vast majority of the saviours in one fell swoop as well.

What hostage situation? Negan let them all go home...to a well fortified town with a massive arsenal of weapons.

The Saviours driving up to the gate in a perfect little convoy, was the perfect ambush opportunity. Could have killed 90% of them right there with only a few losses.
But Rick is literally caught napping.
If they planned and prepped, that first little visit by Negan and his men, would have been their last.

Yeah and some of them would get away and come back with the rest of the saviours and wipe them out. The saviours are pretty much an army compared to everyone else. They're keeping everyone hostage. Do what we say or we'll kill as many of you as necessary? Sounds like a hostage situation to me.

Without Negan, the Saviours would fall apart. You cut the head off of the snake. In all wars and conflicts the leaders are targeted first. After wiping out Negan and that little convoy, Rick would have regained the upper hand.

Rather fight and die, than living like a slave/bitch.

They wouldn't fall apart completely. They'd probably break up into a few factions, fight for a bit then come back together mostly intact. They know that to survive they've still got to be big enough to dominate everyone else so they'd never disperse completely. Then everyone in Alexandria would be screwed.

Hell all it would take is a single faction to wipe out Alexandria. Remember there are a LOT of saviours controlling a very large area.

Maybe you feel that way but it's pretty clear most people in the settlements don't in TWD.

Most of the people in the settlements didn't even know WTF was going on until Negan arrived. Rick gave his pathetic little " I give up " speech after they came and raided the town.

I guess you would end up a bitch in this scenario, while I would fight and survive or die....

Different strokes I guess.

I mean the settlements in general not just Alexandria. It's pretty clear most people would rather give tribute to the saviours than take them on. Rick's decision is keeping everyone alive. They'll probably act when an opportunity presents itself.

You'd fight and die a horrible death btw.

This. He nearly lifted Lucille towards the end. He was close...
People think Rick is a poor leader. Disagree.. Yes he could have taken aim, but it would have ended one way..

There is also a reason, why Carol and Morgan are away, and also others all scattered over the place.. The cannibals found out quickly, that you dont mess with Rick.. Rick is playing the "i surrender to you" game.. But my take is, that Rick is doing the waiting game here..

I dunno. Negan rules with an iron fist and I reckon there are a few people like Dwight who wouldn't mind a new order. He stole Dwight's wife and ironed his face ffs. He's got to be as bitter as Rick and there will be a few more like him.

Well not cannon to the series, in the comics there are a LOT of saviours. Ricks group didn't stand a chance.
