The existence of the character is fine and dandy.

The fact that everyone else is magically placid and compliant is what gets me.

He does a good job of persuading people to be quite a complacent...
 
That's just it for me.

He doesn't come across as persuasive in the slightest which is why you have to wonder why everyone puts up with his bull****.

It's not like it's clever subterfuge or something.

It's so in your face it's laughable. Nobody responds to that in the real world and these characters based on their history certainly shouldn't.

But I guess it's just me then. Has put me right off the show.

His brutality in dealing with people is what persuades them to keep in line.

There's nothing subtle about it.

Step out of line and Lucille will have her way with your skull.
 
After the latest mess of an episode Negan is about the only compelling aspect left of the show.

Sure he has some irritating mannerisms but the wait to see which major character he takes out next is absorbing.

Seriously thought Coral was going to get in one of the episodes.

Stupid boy.

I completely agree. We already know he burnt Dwight's face with an iron and stole his wife, so we can assume that he's committed many dastardly acts to his legion of heavies.

A legion of heavies where everyone is armed to the teeth, and no one has shot the guy?
