Good on the Governors lady friend for capping his tnuc ass.
I couldn't believe the way he sat their hacking away at Herschel's head.

But this episode once again reiterated my original point about Rick.
He's a p*ssy of the highest caliber.
Comes limping into the prison sobbing and bleeding everywhere.
"Carl!!! Carl!!! Carl!!!"

Carl saves his life and he proceeds to sob on his shoulder.
Who is the dad/adult in that relationship?
Carl has become the stable, controlled family member whilst Rick has fallen apart countless times.

One thing I also don't get is how confident Carl was that he could take the Governor out with his trusty rifle.
When all hell breaks loose why did he not take the Governor out?
All the ppl in the prison just start screaming and shooting blindly.

That's what makes this show awesome. It could have had your typical Alpha leader that has all the answers but it doesn't. Rick has to go through many personal challenges that a real person would have to deal with. He can't just grow a pair automatically....

Bring on February!

He only found his daughter once Carl had saved him.
Before that he was a sniffling lump of tears.
Even the way he hugged Carl it panned to Carl's face and he seemed almost disinterested.

Rick had a normal life until deep into adulthood, while Carl is a child that has seen death and killed long before reaching emotional maturity. I would really expect those differences in their reactions. Rick was freaking out because his children was possibly killed. Carl is going to become more hardcore as time passes. At least he did cry when he saw his sister was gone.

Come on dude?? All the challenges they've had to overcome in the prison, surviving the zombies, surviving the flu, sourcing drinking water, cultivating crops. They've fought hard to exist in a hostile world and in the space of an hour its all been destroyed!!

I think Rick behaved like any leader and father would.

Awesome, awesome mid season finale!!! My wife screamed when the Governor killed Herschel, and then she was in tears.

Also, you guys should really watch (download) The Talking Dead, really cool after-show that gives some insights into each episode. After episode 8, they had a short interview with David Morrissey (The Governor), so we knew he was dead. And there's lots of facts about the episodes as well.

Me too... it would have made sense too given that he hacked her dad's head off.

Do you guys think the baby is really dead or is she on the bus? There would be multiple reasons why somebody picking up the baby would have bloody hands.

Yeah, felt really sad for the guy, dad passed away the day before and he was there, trying to be himself on the show. In fact, my wife did say something was off about him around the middle, but I saw nothing different.
