The weight loss thread

Currently at 82.5kg, up from 69kg in 2019 pre Covid when i was training OCR (spartan and Warrior race) training.

Went from a sub 6m per km pace to around 8.30 per km in July, got covid for the 3rd or 4th time again beginning August and now have developed asthma so havent really done any running since as i ran once and on my way home after the run i had an asthma attack, scariest feeling ever...

But i am planning on starting up again from Jan, bought one of those walking pad treadmill things last month that can go up to 10km/h for winter/rainy days and will just run with asthma pump when i hit the road, was running around the garden with the dog over the weekend and it felt so good to move again, i really miss running, was stress coping method for me, now i drink a few beers instead so i need to stop that bad habit.

Want to start training for Hyrox with the aim of doing a race towards end of next year. If i can drop to sub 75kg by July i will be happy. Quite the beer belly currently, sleep is up to crap, wake up a lot during the night, so many health issues i need to sort out and most can be reversed with lifestyle change.

All the Christmas carbs came with a hefty helping of added water weight. Should hopefully improve once I'm back at work from tomorrow and more active again.

Soooo let me check in to start off the year.

Im starting the year on 91.4KG. I did not really gain any weight in December, but Im currently training fairly hard for a few half marathons coming up and I did my fasted parkrun since 2019, so Im happy with that.

All in all I just want to get to 85KG in the next few months. My December diet was dismal, but yeah it was good. Back to drinking more water and intermitted fasting.

Amazo! How'd you do it?

Hey all. Happy 2025 to everyone on your various journeys..
I had a BIG relationship change mid 2024. Sept decided I need to diet. weight was 139 Kg's. Decided it was more a mental thing, eating too much junk and fast food, no excercise etc. Convenient fast foods etc.
Found this crowd online leanliving.co.za in George. Makes pre-cooked meals with calorie controls, not bad price wise for a single guy, and easy to manage, and tastes reasonable. Excellent service.

Decided I wasn't going to go mental over this, but to reduce intake, and also starting playing some padel with office workers once a week. Changed to sprite zero, but still have like 1 spoon of brown sugar in morning coffee. Breakfast is 2 boiled eggs on Albany Ultima Brown Kilojoule Controlled bread(Toast), fruit or a single sandwich lunchtime, and a meal before 18:00 at night. nothing else.

Made it through a biggish Xmas and New year with new friends and gfriend, and this morning, weight was 124.1 Kg's. So 15 Kg's in 3 months, taking it easy. I know I have room to move, as I haven't been 100% watching this, but, still, solid losses, and going in the right direction. I'm setting targets in 5 Kg categories, as I find it better to monitor this way.

Aiming to try get into the 110's by middle of the year, but will also try do some simple excercises to help the process along. I'm pleased with the changes, clothing sizes dropping etc, and feeling better, easier, so, positives as we go.

Hope those of you on similar journeys are still going at it, and achieving your targets, stick to it guys, and when you get there, your new-found daily routine will be the new normal and you should be able to maintain it going forward.
Good luck and hang in there.

Alan

I've developed the newest fad diet to help me shed my holiday weight. I call it 45-45-10.

45% pure carnivore
45% vegan
10% things that are neither carnivore nor vegan (e.g. dairy)

Let’s see how this goes. It combines two of the most extreme diet plans so it won’t be easy.

Dairy is generally considered part of a carnivore diet by many, as it comes from animal sources.

Instead of painstakingly counting calories for every product, a good alternative is to just weigh your food and multiply by 3, and then adjust according to what you ate. On average 500g of food is 1500 calories.
Your daily calorie consumption should be your target weight in pounds x 12.

So if you looking to reach 80kg (175 pounds) then you should look to have no more than 700g/day.
Obviously it would be of greater benefit if the 700g is low in calories or if a lot of it is water weight.

Intermittent fasting will ensure you have the 700g in a smaller window of time so at no point would you feel hungry.

Doesn’t work for me since I eat straight butter.

Wow, well done.

Checking in for 2025. Weighed in first time this year and it is 89.1 so just shy of 1 kg increase in 1 month of holiday. Not too shabby. On an average, I clocked 8.5K steps every day on an average so that helped not to balloon it further.

Target is 78kg by end of the year. Let us see.
