The weight loss thread

Admittedly I was more overweight than ever this time, my previous peaks were around 112-113. Twice before (15 years ago and 5 years ago) I went down nearly 20 each time and then picked it up again over time (I blame career and financial stress ;) - not really an issue this time). In all cases I found the first two weeks to go the fastest, I think it may be due to some water retention and also fat that hasn't really become permanent yet (if that makes sense). So now I'm in for the long slog, will be happy with 1kg a week.

But that said, very happy with losing 5kg in 3 weeks. :D
Yeah, the first few weeks have the fastest weight loss. The real challenge is keeping it off/maintenance.
I also went through a phase of career and financial stress. My highest weight was 120kg in 2022. It's tough.

Oops, thought I lost 4.9 but it's 4.6. That's why I mentioned 5. Still fine though.

Happy about that since I again had a 3rd cheat day and definitely consumed more lite beer over the weekend than before. Also had restaurant nanchos takeaways twice over the weekend over and above the two weekend lunches I go on. Those lunches are basically just meat and potatoes with no sauce as that is relatively low in kJ.

So 5.4kg for the 1st four weeks.

In case anyone is wondering. That's with no exercise other than climbing the stairs at my house.

Time to detox before the big easter weekend... I'm on day 3, no sugar, no booze.

You’ve been told to eat 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism burning. But did you know that eating constantly is exactly what keeps your belly fat locked away? In this video, we dive deep into the real science of intermittent fasting and discover exactly what happens to your liver when you stop eating for 16 hours.

From depleting glycogen to triggering lipolysis, producing ketones, and unlocking the ultimate anti-aging miracle known as Autophagy—this is the hour-by-hour biological breakdown of your body's fat-burning process. Stop counting calories and start understanding your hormones.

Well, my four weeks resolve failed last week and I cheated every day. So having a loss at all is awesome, a win is a win! I do stick with no chocolates/chips/icecream/junk food and drink lite beer though, so I guess that makes a big difference.

For such long duration diets, perhaps it is a good idea to have 4 weeks on, 1 week off, to reset the mood and resolve.

Back on the wagon this week...

the past three weeks have been hectic for me.

Well, surprised I maintained over Easter, but a win is a win. :D

I’ve been reading through this thread and it really hits home how much I messed up by trying to take a shortcut.

Last year, when work stress was at its peak, I started those weight loss injections thinking it would be an easy fix, but it turned into a complete nightmare. I ended up in the ER with gastroparesis, my stomach just stopped functioning correctly.

The medical expenses started piling up so fast that it became a huge financial burden. I eventually had to look into the GLP-1 Drug Lawsuits just to keep up with the bills and find some level of accountability for what those shots did to my health. Looking back, I’d give anything to have just stuck to a natural, steady pace.

Yay, reached the 1st milestone, 110! Onward to 100...

Down one notch on my belt. Two more to go.

Just reduced kJ/calories.
Reason i was asking, i used an oral peptide called Tesofensine. You use very little of this, maybe like 250mcg. Most bottles have 30 or 60 pills in them and are 500mcg per pill. So one has to half the pill or only consume half the power if it's a capsule.

Half life of Tesofensine is 8-9days.

This thread is all about losing weight and helping one another, so any brand will do. Not promoting anything. You do You. :)

In my experience, It stops the food noise. In short.
Majority of people out there have good intentions to stay on a diet, they might keep it up for couple weeks but the main issue is the distraction or the craving. Now there are people who can just keep themself from nibbling and snacking and sneak in a "small cheat meal". The problem is it starts small and then in couple weeks it's slowly returning to a normal "non diet" setup.

Tesofensine stopped that cravings or drive to eat snacks. Does not make me nauseous, but i do think that is one of the side-affect. If you do too much Tesofensine it can make one feel that way. Half life being 8days, one has to start super low and go higher the next week.

Internet will give you the more detailed info.
Think of tesofensine as a “triple-threat appetite and metabolism controller.” It boosts key brain chemicals to reduce hunger and increase energy use without directly affecting gut hormones like GLP-1 drugs.

How it works (super simple):

* Inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin → higher levels in synapses.

* This enhances satiety signals, reduces food cravings, and slightly increases resting energy expenditure.

I think snacking is fine. There is no need for drugs or suffering.

But I stick to a small bag of biltong/droe wors, cup-a-soup, a diet bar or a small packet of chips. Usually a cup-a-soup sorts me out.

If you are 100% focused and keep to your nutrients and calories then one needs nothing i agree. Snacking is fine if you snack on the right things, like droe wors, certain type of nuts and good healthy things.

However, Tesofensine helped me get over the "noise". It might be situational , but i think most people fall in this bracket.
Where like my story... Plenty of times people go to the shops, not myself. Might be my dad or people bring snacks. Then you see the packet of Flings or Doritos.

Other times also, we watch series or movies and then normally people whip out the Dips and Chips or Chocolates or Nougat and things. Me having that Salty Tooth and Sweet tooth is a hard one.

If you have Willpower, then no need for teso. I had to use it even for a while just to get out of my bad habits.
Once your into a new habit, then it's much easier to say nah, i don't need to eat the chocolate cause it does nothing for me. But whilst you have that "addiction" to the sugar or saltyness. Its not easy, specially if chips and chocolates are in house or maybe kitchen areas.

What did you do? OD on a GLP?
