When I was in 'varisty (about 12 years ago) I dated a girl for 6 months. We broke up and did not keep in contact after we studied. The same girl, now all grown up, recently joined the company that I work for. We're colleagues in different teams but in the same division and at similar level in the business. In the past month we've had to work together on a piece of work so each each other at least twice a week. The meetings are normally 1-on-1 so we tend to chat about the past in-between getting the work done.

Last week she told me directly that she thought we should have a no-stings, just physical affair. She's single at the moment, never been married and she said she looking for just the s3x part - I think I believe her about that. I turned her down. An affair is completely OUT of bounds for me but she's made a few hints since then that she's still game if I change my mind.

My dilemma now is whether or not to tell my wife about it. My wife is extremely sensitive about other women. She's not jealous but she was very badly hurt by an affair type situation in the past and she takes serious strain over this kind of thing. It would mean at least a few weeks of strained relations at home. It may not be fair on me etc but it's how it is and I've learned how no to rock the boat. This would would equivalent to capsizing the boat. We'd be able to right the boat and get back in but we'd get very uncomfortable in the process. (At least it wasn't a car analogy!).

Jeez, this is a tough one... Obviously you never had the affair, so thats a good thing, though if you tell your wife that your ex came on to you she might think you were being flirtatious with this girl to make her think she had a chance in the first place.

Were you being flirtatious with her? If not be honest with your wife and make a point that you in no way led your ex on, though on the other hand I also believe a few secrets in a relationship can be a good thing...

Say to her that a coworker asked you to have an affair and you said hell no.

tell her.

if she finds out later she will get mad.

it's great that your varsity sweetheart still finds you attractive....but do you want to harm your marrige?

telll mrs whatnow34, then tell stalker you told your wife. Also that you don't cheat so she must find another humping partner.

If she does not comply then you tell her you'll go to HR coz you don't feel like dealing with her BS (whether you actually go that route is something you decide after that)

I believe that you should tell your partner everything. But if you think she'll react badly because you did the right thing, I don't think it's worth telling her.

The quicker you tell your wife she easier it will be to turn the other woman down. Do it soon before its too late.

Thinking about a movie called Disclosure...

If you aren't going to have the affair then I don't see why you should tell her. Someone made a proposition - you turned it down. If you mention it to the wife she is going to start getting doubts, feel insecure, etc. And it is going to turn a molehill into a mountain.

I will only provide constructive input once you have PMd me your co-worker's details...:D

Your wife will probably be very uncomfortable with you working with the girl in future if you tell her about it. But tell her anyway and let her know it was a preposterous idea, you can't believe the woman is so crazy etc etc. If she finds out later you didn't tell her it's really really really going to hurt.

I don't see what the issue is, if nothing happened, why not tell your wife? Unless you're guilty of something or want to go through with it...

You reckon 999 999 out of a million married guys would have an affair?

I thought I was a cynic.

OP, tell your wife, it seems the only sensible thing to do.

LOL... I think 9 out of 10 would have tapped that sweet ass ... I am not sure what I would have done.

tell your wife dude. Having no secrets is always best.

Oh fine, I'll get involved before the details (but I expect them soon.)

I'm siding more with keeping this to yourself to be honest. If she's been as hurt as you claim, then all that this will do is plant the seed of doubt in her mind. She will also have to put on a brave face every single day knowing full-well that you're about to go spend a few hours with a woman who wants to have sex with you. I don't see what there is to gain by telling her, but it could have repercussions. She will overthink this to the nth degree, especially considering that the woman in question is an ex of yours.

If you're a solid enough bloke to not give it a second thought, then rather just keep it to yourself...
