The Witcher 3 Official thread

All GPU's will be backwards compatible.

What's your budget?

gtx 970 or r9 290 comes to mind. amd's new Rx 300 series will probably make an appearance next month I suspect so might be worthwhile waiting a bit.

Price I can expect to pay for a GTX 970? Budget is R5000 give or take a few hundred. Want to future proof as much as possible so looking to get a few years out of card

Well, seems like there's some drama going around regarding the GreenManGaming Witcher 3 keys: http://www.lazygamer.net/pc-gaming/theres-so-much-drama-over-those-cheap-witcher-3-download-codes

And this is where the whole issue of buying from third party sites come in. While most of the time it's all good, there's nothing stopping GOG from blacklisting those keys it they were so inclined. And yes, you get your money back probably from the third party seller, but then you might end up having to go buy the game somewhere else and spend more.

I wasn't aware that GMG wasn't an official retailer for the GOG stuff, so it's going to be interesting to see how this one pans out.

I have in the past used most these third party sites (Kinguin, CDkeys, G2A, etc.), so I'm not against them at all, and of all the purchases only one of them ended up being a banned CD key, so really, as with everything, caveat emptor.

R5k will buy you a GTX 970, the Galax cards have always been R5k or so but there's a game promo now so you get a free game or two included in the deal!

The Witcher 3 & Batman: Arkham Knight promo,

The Witcher 3 promo,

Both are the same price so the first deal makes more sense.

Is Galax a decent brand? Never heard of them.

Very tempting, although my 660Ti is still working well.

Galaxy is to NVidia as XFX is to ATI. Galaxy when they were two separate entities back in the day had one company produce OEM NVidia cards where their other company distributed the NVidia cards in Europe, the two entities merged to produce and distribute on global scale. Essentially the Galax brand is an NVidia OEM brand with branding (and accessorised).

Have you heard of the Galaxy & KFA2 brands? Both reputable & well know, Galaxy also has long history with nVidia & KFA2 was into high end 'niche' cards.

Galaxy & KFA2 merged and were gonna trade under the Galaxy brand name but a trademark dispute was lodged in the EU (think it was Samsung) over the use of the Galaxy name so now it's called Galax.

The Galax cards run very cool & quite, also overclock to the moon. Very happy with mine.

Nothing wrong with Galaxy as a brand, have had a few of their cards with no complaints.

Shot, dudes.

The R5k GTX970 bundle with two games looks pretty good. If I only had a single HD7870, I would definitely have gone for it. Crossfire HD7870's puts out almost the same performance so no reason to upgrade for now. They're slightly better than a GTX Titan but slightly worse than single GTX970.

im looking to get into gaming again after almost 12 years of no gaming pc's or consoles.
This seems like a good game to kick it off, is the PC or PS4 version the one to go for?

Keeping in mind i will need to purchase hardware to go along with it all
