I'm no expert so don't ask me why but I have noticed more often than not, it starts to strengthen in the afternoon\evening.
At 15.15 now ;) if all goes well in the markets today, it should be dropping another few cents at least.

Unless Zupta and comrades screws something up again.

US markets open at around 16:00 ZA time so as the dollar starts actively trading every day it may explain some of this phenomena.

Finally at sub R15/dollar today. :)
Say what! Can cancel my emigration plans, woohoo!!

But I thought the Hawks investigation of Pravin Gordhan was still making our currency tank?

Yeah but it's gained and lost 50c today alone.

ConCourt ruling should help strengthen the Rand.

Zuma and NA got royally stuffed up.

Lol, only in SA is it a good thing when a ConCourt rules that Parliament and the President failed to uphold the constitution.

I suppose it gives foreign investors some slight reassurance that the judiciary is still impartial. It's not a celebration of Nkandla as such.

Never did I think I would see the day, if it goes below R13 then Sa is back on track, Camps Bay house back in sight
We're benefitting from a triple windfall.

The Dollar weakening substancially, the Yuan strengthening substantially AND the CC ruling have all improved our prospects. March has been one of the best months for emerging market currencies on record.

Yah I'm not so optimistic.. Waiting to see what impact the drought, Eskom and fuel levy will have on inflation and gdp which could push SA into recession and junk status.. The latter more likely if the ANC doesn't get rid of Zuma

Guys it shot up 13 cents in a matter of minutes, the rand is so volatile at the moment
