So the Rand continues to strengthen. Trying to remember what it was at before the NPA decided to bite off more than they could chew. Is it back at those levels? Must be close...
The last time it was this strong was on 27 September, so its stronger than what it was before the NPA went full retard

Do you think we'd be sitting at R11 or so if Nenegate Eric hadn't happened?

I'd like to think that the day Zuma steps down (or is fired, recalled or whatever...), the Rand will surge. Surely his removal will usher in a new wave of investor confidence and economic renewal?

Not necessarily, it would depend on who takes over IMO. And how long they're gonna be there. If he resigns/fired and Cyril only occupies the post for a year until the ANC elective conference, investors will wait till that conference. If till the next elections, then yeah it could lead to investor confidence

It will look like utopia.

ZAR is taking a beating on the Trump thing, now @ 13.72

That is about 4% down
Don't think it's anything to do with Trump, look at other major currencies we are trading lower on all of them. 17.20 to the pound and 15.45 to the euro. Yesterday they were at 16.70 and 14.70 thereabouts.

Not just ZAR. The markets are also taking a pounding. And everyone is running for the safe haven Gold, judging by its price.

Maybe its the SAA thing (chair refuses to step down)? or the vote of no confidence prediction?

It is definitely strange though as it was not affected this badly with other motions of no confidence in the past.

Maybe investors sending a final warning at an opportune moment? I.e. deal with it or we're out...

Not that I expect most ANC MPs to know what an excgange rate is.
