Eish. You seem to be having either trouble understanding or reading here. The world lost a lot in the 2007 financial crisis. That money is now no longer available to invest and emerging markets have been feeling the brunt of it. I'd put it at 50% ANC and 50% world economics.

Incidentally when did the Rand start depreciating? Oh that's right. If it wasn't for the crisis they might still have been investing not caring about possibly losing money as they'd have money to waste.

It has not. Overall whenever there's these "flutters" emerging markets behave proportionally more or less the same.
 
It was at R15 not so long ago. This is just the normal range. R14-R16

And I’m afraid this is only the beginning of the Rand (Zim) dollar story. Give it another year...

I am happy for you chaps. The more the world realize how much damage Institutionalised Racism is doing to South Africa the quicker things will improve.
 
When are we going to hit 16 to the USD? I say March. This couldn't be any more frustrating. I have lost all hope our country will ever improve.

It seems it's most emerging markets that are experiencing this, seems to tie in a lot with the corona virus scare as well. Though it does seem the dollar has had an upward spike.

Yeah, I have started moving my assets out.

Of course I should have started when it was R8/$, but you know, frogs in a pot ?

Now it is Cyril's Frogs.
