I got three R200 fines for doing 71km/h in 60 zones, all done by those "groen mamba" bokse they have around these parts. Chucked them in the bin next to the P.O. boxes upon receiving it.

That would make sense, yes. Definitely can't arrest someone just because they have an outstanding traffic fine.

They don't detain you for outstanding fines - only outstanding warrants.

Traffic cops scanning for unpaid traffic fines at the new road on ramp. WTF? They only seem to be picking up one person with outstanding fines out of every 50 yet they're there for hours backing up traffic all the way along the road.

maybe it's a warning for the other 49 to pay stuff without being arrested?
