Was this at a dealer or an independent aircon guy? If dealer I suggest you call a good mechanic in the area and ask where they send their cars for aircon repair. Take your car there and let them vacuum the system etc.

I had the same on the Tiguan and it appear to just be the solenoid not opening completely. They also have reconned compressors for around R3k including labour

I waa referred to Tiaan's Aircon in Bellville.

Hmmm I'm in Durbs but let me see what they say for re-coned units as well.

Aircon compressor dying on a 8 year old car with sub 100k mileage. Cost to repair/replace R12k on a car valued around R95k now or less.

Whats worse, called around, part is aprox R3k so they want to charge upwards of R6k labour.

Labour costs are extortionist when it comes to cars.

In one of my dumber moments, an agent charged me R900 labour to replace wiper blades when the blades themselves cost a combined R480. Literally R450 per blade.

It's because they charge per hour or part thereof.

Person on the phone asks for my name (Afrikaans one) and I give it and she says Hello Bongani. My f**king name doesn't even rhyme with Bongani.

Customers who send you an email marked as urgent, so you acknowledge it, print it out and get working on it, only to have them phone you and interrupt what you are doing to ask "Did you get my urgent email?"
So you say, "yes I got it", so they say "OK, good. Please! IT'S REALLY URGENT".
I know it's bloody urgent, that's why I am already working on it, now if you get off the bloody phone, I can get to working on it.
