This is when Windows 10 will be retired

This if true kinda explains why win10 has been starting to have multiple performance problems in the last few months..... they maybe wanna kill the attraction for their shiny new version.

I'm a cycle behind on the updates. Broke my network drivers once with updates.

All I want is all settings to be uniform and in one place. Screw the ancient ou toppies wanting their "control panel" .
Agreed, they need to stop the duplication. Put all the system settings in one place. Right now it's a disjointed effort between the modern screens and the control panel - irritates me when I want to find something as simple as my PCs IP address.

Is that a rhetorical question? Windows 10 has so many design inconsistencies and even icons from '95 it's laughable.
It has its faults but overall I've found Win10 to be a stable OS that performs well on outdated hardware.

A few years ago, I thought that the likes of Ubuntu would have caught up in terms of desktop OS market share but Win 10 has consistently muscled out the competition over the last decade.

That's only because Windows is installed by default. Luckily Chromebooks and Raspberry Pi's are getting more powerful and popular.

No actually, it was a proper question. I don't care about the design elements or icons. I'm able to do my development on it, update it, and do whatever else I have to without issues. If a popup is grey or white, or an icon is old that does not hinder the capabilities of the operating system. So again, why exactly does it suck?

Lol version 20H2 still has the title bar one...

So your only gripe is because some of the UI is still dated. Obviously, you're not in the development space so you don't fully understand what's required in order to build the UI that you use daily. Here's a hint, it's not drag and drop in visual studio (for the majority), most of these dialogues are written using raw windows API's.

Couldn't care any less. Apple managed to do it with one update (MacOS Big Sur was a complete design overhaul). Surely M$ should be able to do it as well?

Yes, and they don't care much about you either, so it's a moot point. Continue moaning, it will get you far.
