This message is for Telkom, or Telkom Mobile, 8ta or whoever i should ask about this problem.

I have noticed that where i have moved to has NO 3G/HSDPA Coverage, absolutely none, i get EDGE most of the time and i am starting to get quite pissed off because i did not pay R600 for a modem and R300 this month for data to get bad signal coverage, i had the same problem with my phone (Vodacom) on EDGE, but the problem was quickly resolved without me having to contact them. If you would please fix this as i am not happy at the moment, i have had great service up until now. I am staying in Sonstraal Heights, near Curro, Momento Drive, Durbanville, Cape Town.

Thanks,

Anthony

Sorry, but I don't have any sympathy. The TM coverage maps are there for you to see prior to making a move, or you could easily have checked with a phone and a TM sim card, before moving there.

It's like buying a sports car while you were living in the city - great !! Then you decide to move to a farm, and now complain to the car manufacturer because the cars clearance is not enough, and your car can't go over the bumps, and you get stuck in small muddy pools.

@Defirence680 Contact the data help desk explain your dilemma you experiencing say some sob story. Did you also check Telkom Mobile/8TA only coverage, maybe they can install an antenna absolutely for free, no additional charges.

maybe you should consider getting a booster

yes telkom coverage is not perfect, however for my main locations, for data, its better then vodacom or mtn!!

How much does a booster cost ?

I am also struggling now with Telkom Mobile network their signal is becoming weaker by the day inside my house, works perfectly outside without any hiccups.

If only Telkom Mobile sold this Cel-Fi
http://thetechieguy.com/2012/12/12/cel-fi-boost-your-cell-phone-signal-to-get-coverage/

As far as I know, boosters are illegal as they interfere with spectrum that is assigned to different carriers. There are also issues with respect to the way the handoffs between different cells which the booster will mess up, causing dropped calls and all sorts of ****.

The best way to approach this is increasing your signal strength with passive antennas (preferably unidirectional, pointed to closest tower) or contact the carrier in question directly
