I want to go to the houses of the people who earn like R3000 worth of ebucks per month.

Your homes probably look like makro catalogues hehe. Thats what I would do anyway.

Furnish my entire home from makro. You can actually save a lot of moola with ebucks.

Buy a samsung smart tv and get free vox internet - makro
Furniture - makro
Appliances - makro

You never need a cellphone contract cos you get your iphone or Samsung from makro.

Laptop or pc from makro

Then treat yourself to travelling once a year.

Repeat.

Tbh, Makro mostly sells mass-market stuff. For things like TVs that's actually okay, but for most other things it's not so okay for someone that has that much money to spend.

Ebucks really only makes sense at the Platinum / PC level. When it comes to PW you're probably buying your appliances, clothes, camping gear etc. somewhere more exclusive.

eBucks shop is down for an update, I really really hope it comes back with discounted iStore vouchers (pre-orders are now open and without the discount I'm just a bit short of the cash price).

Did not get my 1000 points for logging into the FNB App 4 times (Which I did more than 4 times) :(

Same here. I usually get my statement on the 15th (Wierd I know). Will check it out then before I complain.

Quick question, can you use Checkers Voucher Cards to pay for other services such as DSTV?

And it's because people who can afford a more exclusive lifestyle know this...that they have it in the first place.

Normally the ones who look all exclusive as the deeply indebted ones.
:erm:

Your tier is determined by the amount of money you earn, nothing to do with debt.

If you spend R4000 at Makro every month you're going to accumulate a **** load of junk, and it doesn't matter how much you buy you just cannot buy an upmarket AV setup, an upmarket tent, an upmarket pair of jeans, an upmarket coffee machine, an upmarket lounge set, etcetera. at Makro. Once you've got the TV and the midrange DSLR, and the washing machine and the fridge... There just isn't much left. I wouldn't be surprised if most people that earn that much in Ebucks spend it on groceries.

I wanted to buy a R7,000 AVR from an AV shop in Gauteng and of course eBucks don't work there.

My Checkers spend is already over the 20% max. I still buy half my stuff at Woolies because if this.

So ... I bought the AVR via EFT (only option) and bought R7,000 Checkers vouchers at 40% off.

Over the next two months I'll still buy from Checkers up to the 20% max and then shift my Woolies purchases to the Checkers vouchers.

I'll earn slightly less eBucks for two months but recoup the R7,000 via the vouchers.

:D

I think you missed my point entirely.

It was a commentary on society in general, not on eBucks.

As in the rich people are the frugal ones who especially cash in on things like 40% discounts.

The "rich" ones are the ones who get in debted to show off the flashiest new car or the overpriced name brand appliances etc.

The real rich are more than happy with being frugal and getting stuff from Makro for a reduced price.

It was a response to an earlier comment if you pay attention.

But yes you can't buy everything from Makro. That goes without saying. The money can however be spent anyone else without discount as it's still free money. Or on holidays and flights etc.

^ Indeed, he missed your point.

My father is one of those with the mindset, ooh, i got money, must spend it. I on the other hand prefer to save for a rainy day. My father is living proof of how not to do it. Yours truly is supporting him.

Yeah I think it's often a case of those who have money for a short point in time tend not to get much longevity from it.

Those with less who look after it well reap the rewards much later, but then don't know how to spend it having an ingrained habit of frugality.

I try to strike the balance between the two.

Like I still love my cars as bikes and spend more than I need to there in the eyes of many, but it still amounts to less than 15% of our household income whole under loan which it isn't ever for very long. I buy my cars second hand though and hold onto them for a while. Bikes will probably always be brand new although if I buy a second one it might be second hand and although I don't hold onto them as long as I plan to with cars it's still probably twice as long as most people.
