Don't get me wrong I like getting eBucks, but why jump through hoops and spend a disproportionate amount of effort on maximizing them, when that effort could have been used far more effectively else where in one's life?

I think this was asked before ...

I cancelled an order and Takealot refunded it to my credit card several days later. Does the original purchase still count to your monthly spend?

Iirc the answer was yes?

Yes, and the refund too, so net effect is zero eBucks earn.

I just have to say that I've just spent my first eBucks ever on a R5000 Makro voucher and it's largely thanks to this thread and all of you guys showing me the way.

I didn't think my Jewjitsu would ever reach such levels of literally getting R5000 for free.

Now just another R3000 voucher, hopefully by December and dishwasher here I come.

How long did it take you to build up enough to buy the voucher?
I am only on 279 in one month. :crying:

I put in the effort about three years ago to get to level five and have stayed there ever since (barring one month last year) . These days its minimal effort. It becomes second nature.

Sure, it still requires some effort, but its not always so easy to add an extra five percent (for example) to one's income just like that.

It's awesome hey? I used to use them buying other vouchers for silly things, now I simply buy Makro vouchers and am hoarding them til I need something. Nice to know that I could potentially buy a lens or a household appliance or something with a massive massive discount.

The only effort is to get to level 5 in the beginning. After that it takes no effort at all.

The 40% discount at Makro alone makes it worth it. Plus I use the eBucks to spoil myself.

For me, my points to keep on RL5 is almost automatic. I just need to make sure I spend online or swipe internationally for more than R2k and dip into my overdraft for a couple of days a month. Apart from 2 months just after I moved from Platinum to Private, I've been on RL5 consistently for just over 2 years.

All my other RL points require no conscious effort on my part. I do have a whole host of FNB products though, investments, global account, smart devices, home loan.

I'm under no illusion, FNB through interest and fees (and merchant fees, because we indirectly pay for these too) make more off me than they reward me in eBucks, but it's definitely nice to get something back.

Not sure what effort to be honest. It's forced me to go largely cashless and I'm thankful for that. The only effort I go through is to draw some cash at till when I do my monthly shopping, everything else is second nature and things that I do anyway...

Exactly the same for me, with the caveat that I hate cash. I only draw to pay for indoor football.

Well I think I signed up with FNB in April but then I wasn't really too focused on the eBucks thing until this thread informed me properly.

So I started on Golf Cheque account first, just to get away from Nedbank then soon after switched to Platinum and got the Bundled option with Credit Card too.

Then struggled a bit longer to get to Lv 5 which was only in July.

Balances
3 June 2015 - 1018 eB
8 July 2015 - 5000 eB
13 August 2015 - 8 825 eB
8 September 201 - 18 477 eB
7 October 2015 - 31 081 eB

R5000 Voucher = 30 025 eB

So about 3 months after hitting Lv5.

Oh and I was also a naysayer about it being too much effort. But after hitting that Lv5 first time it's been absolutely no effort on my part.

Only time we had trouble is one day when the card wouldn't work (convinced the idiot at the garage put it on budget) and my wife was in a panic so she put it on her Virgin card instead so as not to use the FNB Cheque card.

In future I'll simply decline to pay if their card system isn't working.

Well done to the guys racking up >eB10k

But, at the risk of repeating myself, it takes a large[sup]*[/sup] amount of spend to score that many eBucks
Even on my 1%er salary , I don't swipe for much more than R5k/month (R1k Chekers , R1k petrol) and I score about eB3500/month
That includes utility bills paid via EasyPay.
I'm on RL5 Gold for the last 2 months

I would expect this is more reflective of what the larger portion of people on this thread score?
