Thread is moving rather fast, can you purchase fuel with a CC and not pay any interest from transaction date, or will they treat it as cash?

As far as I know, if you use your credit card, the transaction will be treated as a normal POS transaction but if you use a linked petrol card then the transaction will be treated as cash and interest charged.

I think it is, I will go route of 10K in Fixed Deposit for 12 months, get 6.10%/6.27% - better than MoneyMarket rates and don't need it in a hurry.

Thanks. Have about R17k in a 32 day notice account so can take those points as well.

Even on gold I would struggle to even make level 2 without a CC. With a CC I can't make level 4 - even if I do everything right.

I guess it's as good time as any to get a CC.

Cripes, and you have to pay R200 a year to get ebucks on a credit card.
Not if it is linked to the same color level cheque card according to that new URL.

Looks like with some work I can manage level 5 on platinum, but not happy about what I have to do to manage that. So still have to consider downgrading to gold.

Personally, really dislike having to use CC.
Hate that they give points for loans. Why should I get a revolving loan. I don't even see the point of it as a client, but I can see why the bank would love giving it out.

The only good thing I have counting in my favor, is the 3000 points for having a bond. But what if it is paid off, then again I don't see why I would want to get one again to get the points.

Under qualifying requirements.

"If you have an FNB Gold Credit Card, you can link your FNB Gold Credit Card to your eBucks account by calling us on 087 320 3200 or visiting www.eBucks.com. The R200 linkage fee is billed upfront to your FNB Gold Credit Card, thereafter charged annually on the anniversary of your initial linkage date."

for plat - would it work with feeSaver? :-)

Things to remember:
These requirements may change from time to time. We'll let you know when they do.
If you stop meeting any one of these requirements at any time, you won't be able to earn eBucks with your FNB Platinum Accounts. As soon as you fulfil the relevant requirement again, you will earn eBucks when you use your accounts again.
If you hold an FNB Platinum Cheque Account on the unlimited pricing option and an FNB Platinum Credit Card you will no longer have to pay the linkage fee on your FNB Platinum Credit Card to earn eBucks.
If you only have a FNB Platinum Credit Card i.e. no FNB Platinum Cheque Account, you can link your FNB Platinum Credit Card to your eBucks account by calling us on 087 320 3200 or visiting www.eBucks.com. A linkage fee of R200 is charged in order to link your FNB Platinum Credit Card to earn eBucks. The R200 linkage fee is billed upfront to your FNB Platinum Credit Card, thereafter charged annually on the anniversary of your initial linkage date.

You are correct. I should have been more specific, that if you have both platinum cheque and credit and on the unlimited option then you dont have to pay that linkage fee:

On Gold you'll have to pay, if you're on Plat and have both a cheque and credit card you don't have to pay anything

Not looking good for me also :(

15k in savings pocket is a joke ,massive increase over the 2k :(

Stuff i will have to do now to get level 5.

• Draft and keep your signed Will in FNB’s custody and
where FNB is the executor - wonder what will cost?

Use between 10% and 90% of your budget and
your straight facility- Going to buy something about R300 on budget and pay it off , Will make my budget limit R500 , so it is between 10-90%

Only swipe your card or use Cash@Till
(no ATM or FNB Branch withdrawals). Easy enough will tranffer money to my easy account and withdraw then, if i need cash asap.

• Swipe your Cheque or Credit Card for purchases
abroad - Wonder if buy something for dollars online if this will be triggered?

Keeping your will with them costs nothing, I'm sure.
The catch is that they take an executors fee of 3% of your entire estate when you pass away.

Looks like I'm dropping from level 3 to level 1 with these changes (platinum cheque account, no cc with FNB).
I would consider dropping to Gold, except that I have a named banker and I don't want to lose that service (absolutely hate calling call centres).
I also get a LOT of benefit from my Discovery cc, so not switching it to FNB.

The good news is I don't have to keep R2000 in my savings pocket anymore, or stress about getting Cash@Till, or give marketing consent, or swipe my cheque card to get my earn level up. None of these will get me to even level 2. So I guess I'm going to buy absolutely everything except fuel through my cc - Discovery can get all my merchant fees.

Ok so i will have to do the whole buy on budget thing on the cc , and have a choice keep 15k in savings pockets or use one of the debt products like revolving loan , for the last points.

Savings pockets might be hard but will be possible now that i will be swiping my cc and not my cheque card.

Its still worth it for me , mainly because I use the the 4mps uncapped account and buy allot of goodies online for friends , which now will give me 4% back in ebucks!

I'm still not sure about the budget thing. What does 10% to 90% mean in this context? When I had a CC I never bought on budget because it's a waste of money, so I don't actually know how it works, but doesn't it appear as bits and pieces on the same statement - or how does it work? And how does it work in the context of this EBucks thing.

All platinum customers should complain. Gold vs platinum makes zero sense. I have sent through a complaint.

First you have make sure you spilt your cc up to have a budget part , then you can buy on budget, you do this via online banking.

You can choose up to 24 months to pay , then each month your payment for the budget amount goes off your cc .

So you do have longer time to pay it , but interest rates apply where you buy on straight , you can pay off your cc each month and not pay interest on your straight balance.

The "use your budget facility to increase eBucks earn" is one of the major BS clauses. They should reward me for paying off my credit card and NOT using my budget facility at all.

What they do is give you more eBucks in return for charging you 16%+ interest. So you lose really.

But the question has still not really been answered.

Under the new rules for Platinum and Gold, what do they mean by 10% to 90% of credit card limit when this facility is based on both straight and budget? Does it mean I have to buy on budget, or does it mean it's fine if I spend say R5000 on a R10000 limit, but all straight?

Anywhere outside of ZA would qualify?
Use your FNB Platinum Cheque or Credit Card to swipe internationally. 1500

1$ ebay transaction(via paypal) would qualify?
Use your FNB Platinum Credit Card to pay for your online shopping. 1500

Think they mean a physical swipe at a POS terminal...
