So does this mean you need to port to their Virtual provider? Who's the actual carrier then in terms of signal etc?

Yes, but he said he has an FNB sim.

Makes perfect sense to offer their own network more to entice people to switch.

I know I will when the time comes.

Perhaps if you buy it on the correct tab.

eg.
Go to "my bank accounts"
Then go to "my sim cards"
Click on "Top up" next to the SIM you want to add air-time

I think the 8th is the date they are usually in - sometimes it's earlier - sometimes later.

Just be patient :)
