Tips to Boost your eBucks

I'm on RL5 and earn up to 1k ebucks only.
I think the reason for that is quite simple though...

I'm on the premier bundle which has lower caps than PW for instance?
Also caps on things like checkers spend is a percentage of your total spend.
Earn less > spend less > lower cap?

I earn roughly 7000 ebucks each month which translates to R1200 worth of makro vouchers and I really don't spend that much.

Here's what I do each month without breaking the bank (Premier Account):

1. Monthly shopping at checkers (R2000 per month= 3000EB)

2. Swipe for all fuel with credit card NOT petrol card (+- R1500 per month= +-2300EB)

3. Online spending. I think a lot of people miss this point. Pay for telkom, internet, dstv, eating out via snapscan and zapper etc. It is 4% back on RWL 5 (+- R2000= 800EB)

4. Airtime (+- R200= 300EB)

5 Electricity (R300= 450 EB)

6. Monthly spend by swiping each month is also a few rands worth of ebucks.

This is where I think I lose out. I don't keep a track of total spend and calculate optimum Checkers spend for example. Maybe I should develop a spreadsheet that calculates everything for me and shows me exactly where to maximum earnings by watching how much and where I spend at what time of the month.

Well the reality is that you can't spend more than you have, even with a spreadsheet.

So all you should do is maximise you existing spend to it's full ability using your credit card.

Cancel debit orders where you can and pay with card instead.

Like I pay my rates and taxes and telkom with my CC. Automatically adds almost R2k to my spend and I have no choice but to pay that.

Beyond that I've started paying my daughters school with credit card even though they charge a small fee as it pushes my total spend up and removes the caps in the process.

Yay! 8281 eBucks for me this month! Most I ever got!

I worked for it though...I spend more at checkers rather than other places and tried to do more transactions this month so I can buy a Makro voucher to purchase a fridge for our new home! Now I see the fridge I want is suddenly R1000 more than last month. Was always R6999 Now its R7999 :( It even was on special for R6499 a month or two ago! Just my luck :(

I'm feeling sick and boss said I could go home.if I do go home I will spend the day moving all my debit orders to CC.
If you eft from CC it's a R7 fee correct?

OOPS! I meant R1k worth of ebucks :P

I was referring more to the guys on here earning R2000+ (20 000) worth of ebucks pm.
Don't think it would be possible for me to reach that right now

Thanks, yes, my rates, taxes and telkom will put add another R5k spend instead of paying via EFT.

Went to the Durban French embassy to do biometrics etc, for my passport. They then needed R1600 CASH. I was the last person scheduled that day and the consular dude was to leave soon thereafter back to PTA. I had no option but to go quickly and use the ATM. Who in this day and age don't have visa facilities. One would believe that these cakes would prefer not carrying a brief case full of cash. Bloody agents!!

It felt like I was betraying myself using that cash dispensing contraption - good chance it has affected my RL5.

1 cash withdrawal shouldn't.

Afaik.

I must be missing something. If you used your FNB card, you will earn ebucks on the online shopping. It just won't be listed as a separate line item on your ebucks statement for eg: "allocation for takealot". Not so?

If you buy something via TakeAlot, you earn on your CC, and you also get 2.5% back from takealot. That is a separate allocation.

What I did was, not specify "earn ebucks" and specify my ID. I did get on the CC spending section.

Hope it is now more clearer

If you move your debit orders to your credit card you wont earn ANY ebucks on those transactions, take note

If you're on the very edge of RL5 and the cash withdrawal is gonna drop you a level, simple do a Cash@Till for >R1600 then just deposit the money back into your account.
Of course, this will attract fees, but RL4 could costs you more in lost eBucks.
You'll have to do some calculations

EDIT:
You'll need to use an automated cash deposit ATM.
I would expect a cash deposit at the branch will count as a branch transaction. And an ATM deposit is cheaper anyway

Oh damn ok maybe not then. I can I can stay on RL5 by other means.

I only move my ADSL to my CC because my ISP takes money as they wishes, and it is a mission to manage the minimum amount on my cheque account (for the eB rules)

I read that guys are taking out personal loans and make more debt to earn ebucks

I can confirm, you can get to level 5 without making more debt.

Looking forward to the new rules in JUNE !

LOL !
Last year changes was to make FNB clients use online banking more and to avoid going into branches or withdraw from ATM's.
Wonder what they will do this year...
For me, the big change as compared to the previous year was that I could not practically get RL5 without a credit card (on Gold), and the cheque card earn percentages were decreased. Which meant that I had to finally throw the towel in and get a CC.
