ToC Disconnects

IMO Some people gets dc'ed cos of a bottle neck of data all be it from between your pc and wow or your pc struggles to handle all the data (eg low end pc and or cheap ass screencard)

oh no...don't tell me its starting again

i did not have a single problem since my last post...but tonight i noticed again a sharp increase in latencies. from around 500ms, its now around 1000ms.

getting ready now for a raid...lets see what happens.

IS having an international latency issue (surprise surprise) again.

SAIX seems slightly better but it didn't stop disconnection on Freya when the small adds popped.

We attempted a 25 man EXTREME hard mode Ony last night. This is where you start the fight on Ony and in the second phase just after the welps get released they send in the ultimate boss in WoW, telkom.

Time after time we'd have 6-12 disconnects every time we engage the welps. All addons disabled, combat log disabled, graphics on low etc. Nothing worked.

I was also getting some lag in toc 25 last night. I noticed my latency slipping into the yellow zone several times during the boss encounters. We had alot of our guild dc'ing as well but thats become so standard now that we have 10 people or so waiting around on standby to replace them.

Wow DC's

I thought I would post here as well. I seem to have DC issues now as well. I know there was a problem with the SAIX backbone, go broken cable. After chatting to my ISP I hear that there is also a problem on the undersea cable now which is what has been causing all the DC's lately. It has been escalated for a week now and the suspision is that the fault lies with a level 3 server which controls the undersea cable, however there is no eta on when this will be resolved. Northerend beasts is the worst IMO. I DC almost straight away on pull and then trying to relog is a joke. I average 300ms latency and I can do everything 5 man, BG's 10 man raids and even some 25 man raids. Yogg +1 not really causing an issue either. Come to 25 man ToGC or ToC and I spend my life looking at the login screen. I have tried pretty much all these fixes apart from using a prox. My guild is getting fairly annoyed with all the DC's, however I am not the only one who is dcing but I have the worst case of it.

/cry

well...for me it was a false alarm last night, although got dc'ed right at the start of the raid, having a latency of 1000ms

Just restarting the router fixed it though...had latency of around 500ms throughout raiding...not very good, but at least it was playable.

Still...it is all very frustrating with this poor latencies we get

I am with Web Africa as an ISP, they are pretty good as far as an ISP goes.

I thought I would post an Update here. Ran 25's last night, ToGC faction Champs, Algalon 25, hodir 25 etc no issues at all. It would appear that the international link has been sorted. At least I can raid in peace now.

Hmmm,Heroic25 on friday again, lets see if I can turn DBM on this time

So I was doing TOC 10man Heroic, twins in particular. And I noticed that every time I got a lag spike it my SNR dropped from 28 to +-20, is it normal for you SNR to fluctuate?

I also tried using a 626 supposedly semi shaped and it was most horrible. It seems decent 400ms when you log in but constantly spikes up to 1200ms, its really unplayable and crap. I will never buy another 626 account, probably never get another IS account for gaming. IS accounts have recently lost all appeal.

Its cheaper to buy a telkom 3gig account get 20gigs local = 23gig account for R145
Standard Telkom accounts > IS accounts for downloading speed
Standard Telkom accounts > IS accounts for downloading on news servers
Standard Telkom accounts > IS accounts for gaming.

Why would anyone use crappy IS accounts?

sigh @ dc's once more! I hate this stupid dc's! SO I took my pc with me to my sisters place no dc last week.

Today, mass dc consistently, so either it is actually a connection issue or its my router.

So now that we know it is indeed not pc and pc settings related, can somebody try swapping their router/modem with a friends that does not exp the problem? This would 90% drop the possibility of it being the router. I say 90% because there could be a possibility that is some combination of telkom / router settings
