Soo I'm leaving openweb in search of new pastures. (10kbs daytime speed on a 1mbs line)

Almost a year ago when uncapped just came out I was on Afrihosts 384kbs uncapped. I did not have so many problems but left them because of some packet loss on World of Warcraft that plagued me with disconnects. So my question is, has Afrihost improved on their uncapped offerings in the past year?

The reason why I'm asking is because the uncapped afrihost thread is . . well . . dead. So either everyone is happy, or have other isp accounts for their uncapped needs.

My other option is going to mweb. I did have a trial account that preformed brilliantly the week I had it but its still a new ISP I have not yet used. There can be allot of debate on who is better but in the end wo do you think I should try or go back to?

Thanks

If you are looking to replace the standard offering instead of the gold offering then you will be happy with mweb. Otherwise shell out for gold.

The problem is that most gold users are getting the same problem I have been having and because I dotn want to use another backbone other than IS there is no solution for me at Openweb

Afrihost is a super provider!
Well, as long as you take a capped account. Uncapped is not AH's forte. Just analyze your internet habits and find out how many gigs you need monthly. The AH 50 GB deal comes roughly at the same price like their uncapped offering, R475 I guess, and gives you full speed all the time. I'm pretty happy with it. And when I need more I just purchase extra gigs at R15 a pop, sometimes even cheaper. AH often has specials where you get 2 for 1 and so on.

If you want to play WOW with decent latency, I can confidently recommend webafrica capped account. I tried afrihost capped (to be fair it was late last year), afrihost uncapped, axxess uncapped and they can't compare to webafrica in terms of latency. If you want to play online games, uncapped is never going to be an option.

Dude but why? When you move to mweb you are no longer on IS, the cheap IS accounts are pure rubbish so why would you want to be on IS? All openweb do is resell IS accounts, you will have the same issue with any other IS reseller. Gold(5 backbones) or mweb is about your only option.

i was just thinking the above...

Most of the people i know that do game online have a small capped/unshapped account & then uncapped for the rest..

Thanks for the reply guys.

Well I dont play WoW so much anymore so its not really a problem(Started with EVE . . 2 months and still training for mining -.-)

But I think I will go with Mweb then :). But yes Afrihost's Cap accoutns are awesome, would have gone with them if I had the money for a 50gb account :D

Uncapped accounts are not meant for gaming. Get yourself another account with only a few GB on it and game on that.

That's interesting, you can have 2 isp's and just change the router/modem settings depending on what you are doing?
Even if the line is managed by one of the ISP's?

The GOLD IS accounts are way better than the cheap R495 IS accounts. I'm on IS GOLD and loving it. It's just fast internet.
