Torrent problems?

same line different pc my torrents are now working at normal 130k+ speeds. same setting on both laptops, it's weird, I'll see if a format and reload helps.

well i have a 2mb line and i was getting 200kb/s on my torrents. Downloaded season 8 of greys in a night or faster. Then my torrents died. Been like this since last week. If i run a tracert to an international IP (like google) my ping is 200+. My browsing is erratic...facebook no probs...Unisa 15mins to get to the page. 15mb download can take me 30mins.

But i see that everyone has been having probs since the upgrades last year :-( I only started experiencing problems at the begining of the year and no matter how many calls i logged they say its fine so i have now idea anymore.

Busy downloading as im typing this and im getting 100kb/s but it is 12 at night so yeah...during the day torrents wont even start

ok so did a speedtest (http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/)

Test conducted on 2/7/2013 12:08:21 AM

Download Speed: 1732 kbps (216.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 365 kbps (45.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 220 ms

Interestingly im doing the 200+ kb/s transfer rate to an international address BUT my downloads dont reflect that at all. the latency is high but i think whats happening is that they are throttling or targeting torents but yeah i dont know how telkom would do that. will read some more n do some digging because this have kept me up for a week now trying to tweak and see whats up with my line....

me needs my games online and downloads back!!!!

P2P at least starting now, but no speed. 50-80 kB/s on 4mbit uncapped. Is this permanent or are telkom still working on improvements?

I dont know hey. They busy working on my line as im typing this...they said there was a problem with my exchange and that its fixed BUT my downloads are still DEAD and if i try play games online my ping is just nasty. If i do a tracert half the pings timeout. So yeah wanna see whats up :-(

Test if your ISP rate-limit (throttle) or shape Torrent traffic:
http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest-mlab.php

My results on a MWeb Uncapped Premium 4Mbps:

Is your upload traffic rate limited?

There is no indication that your ISP rate limits your uploads.
However, some of the measurements were affected by noise, which limits Glasnost ability to detect rate limiting.

Details:

* There is no indication that your ISP rate limits your BitTorrent uploads. In our tests, uploads using control flows achieved up to 324 Kbps while uploads using BitTorrent achieved up to 322 Kbps.

* There is no indication that your ISP rate limits uploads on port 6881 or 39525. In our tests, uploads on port 6881 achieved up to 325 Kbps while uploads on port 39525 achieved up to 322 Kbps.

Ok so they worked on my exchange now and i get these results during the day:

Test conducted on 2/7/2013 11:50:35 AM

Download Speed: 1828 kbps (228.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 390 kbps (48.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 215 ms

Not bad...BUT...i then run a tracert to Blizzards servers (i do gaming):

mmmmm half the packets time out....and then...

Are certain ports blocked for all traffic?

3 out of 3 BitTorrent transfers on port 6881 failed to upload any data. It seems like your ISP hinders you from uploading BitTorrent traffic on port 6881 to our test server.

So now i know where the problem is :-) Thankyou Franna

So now to fix that...seedbox should rectify but will have to look around

They working on it [Ti] as we are on their new system so they tweaking it since 1st of February, hang in there.

Please follow ranger's response and post your info in [preferably my thread linked 1st] for feedback too.

Telkom Internet Uncapped User Feedback (i personally would prefer this thread updated ]

Telkom International slow

Telkom Internet Capped FUBAR

As i said in another thread, it is difficult to tell someone who has just joined Ti uncapped to stay until this is resolved unless they were using the service for a few months atleast. I will say again, give them a chance before making any quick decisions [especially regarding p2p as this is being worked on then gaming..] :)

also picked up earlier after they worked on my exchange but now my international download is worse...

Test conducted on 2/7/2013 10:18:02 PM

Download Speed: 621 kbps (77.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 359 kbps (44.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 388 ms

Fixing a problem is 1 thing but me paying for a 2mb line uncapped and not being able to use it is another. I have had my line since september last year :-( so waiting is getting to be a problem hahahahahaha

Great news (for me). Telkom gave me a test account, and it actually works. P2P and everything else. I notice it gets the 41.x.x.x IP range. So go ahead and get that test account for the mean time...

Torrents are running smoothly, even on the much loathed Afrihost uncaped account. Just downing TPB AFK, Simon Klose's fabled doccie which you can get legally from TPB now. Never slower than 200 kB/s \o/ YAY! \o/

Torrents are working, its downloading but the speed is slow, takes an 1 and a half hours to download something that use to take 10 to 15 mins.
Ive got the fastest speed package too

Shaped uncapped accounts are generally crap with P2P. Just use usenet or a torrent-to-http service.

At the risk of sounding like a moron .... could someone please explain how to do this:confused:
