Tracking Parcels

Seems almost standard for parcels to sit in Customs for 5 weeks here in Joburg.

So a typical delivery, if I actually get it, takes seven weeks, ie one week shipping from overseas, five weeks in Customs, one week from Customs to the local Post Office.

And where I have had items stolen, it also seems to have happened in Customs.

Delays / theft by the Post Office seems to have declined.

Note : I am now waiting for three parcels shipped middle July, so they are now a bit over the seven week period.

im assuming so but i haven't got the slip yet and phoning them hasn't been successful. i don't want to rock up and then they ask me for a slip. will be first time there so don't know the vibe yet.

I've collected at my local post office before, without having received a slip. They just check their register by name, since they don't/won't work with the international tracking number. It is a very quiet post office so YMMV.

You don't need the slip. Just your ID / drivers and maybe a copy of the invoice.

I cant get through on any phone numbers. Not cape mail numbers provided or Joburg customs? Can anybody advise? Mine still says 28/08 Joh Int Incomming

Depends in how much of a hurry you are.

For me, I just wait, then one of the following happen:
a) 2 weeks go by at Cape Mail Hub, then they end it on to the local P.O. and I either get it with R0 customs/handling fee or sometimes there is a fee, mostly not
b) 2 weeks go by and I get a notification that I need to pick it up at Cape Mail Hub

I prefer that a happens, but 1 out of 10 times it is b, then I dread going through to Cape Mail hub.

If the package is sent without tracking, chances of paying R0 import fee on small items go up by like 95%.
With option A are you referring to ignoring their request for an invoice to be sent so they can levy the vat/duties and then eventually they thumbsuck the value and send it on to your Po?

Nope. With option A they never sent a request for invoice, they just pass it on to the PO who then either deliver at my home address or leave a notice I need to pick it up at the local PO.

I ordered something from banggood using their EMS shipping option, but I see its been sitting in singapore for the last 5 days. How long does it normally take to begin shipping?

Tried to call the Jo'burg imc with no luck. Not sure what to do now

Check the wording carefully, it may have shipped from Singapore and is sitting in Joburg, where it may remain for 5 weeks.

All without being scanned or recorded.

It still just has the first notification entry that it was scanned into singapore post. How would I know if its left?

They usually say that it has left Singapore. Often that is the last time that you hear about it.

But in your case it may still be in Singapore.

It doesn't contain Lithium or Lithium-Ion batteries, does it ?

It does. Does this delay things?

CAPEMAIL (HUB) This was on 16 September.
In transit

I phoned them not ready for collection yet .

Really need my phone after I been robbed :(

You got it yet? My parcel is also at Capmail hub. Can I phone them and try collect from there?

Nope they do answer phone at least ,just told me not cleared customs yet.

Cellphones might take longer to clear as they have batteries built in.

I also have a parcel sitting at Capemail, since 15 September. My local post office called them yesterday to inquire - the container in question has not yet been unpacked and they cannot even estimate when they will get to it.

Yeah Cape Mail hub is slower than a horny snail running after itself to mate.

Oh yes, I have a parcel sitting there since 9 September, its still there, had some movement yesterday morning.
