Tracking Parcels

Work fine just tested it, you need local tracking number for them to help you.

No you don't. Both times I called I asked them for the local tracking number. If you read earlier in the thread I also mentioned - ask them for a shelf number, so when you turn up to fetch your stuff you can actually get it even if the system is down AGAIN.

I finally got through. And when I did, the service was great. Paid R90 in tax for a MI5. What a phone it is. And pretty fast delivery too.

Where'd you buy it from? (sorry if you already said earlier)

No answer for me today :(

Got through now, was sent to my local post office and should be ready on Monday for collection.

Problem is I was mugged last week at the post office and this is reason why I need this phone lol. Probably ask someone to come with, can't even collect my post without being mugged in the country :P

Means it was scanned at JIMC and travelling somewhere. Could be travelling to another room at JIMC, or away from JIMC to another hub, like Cape Mail hub or Pretoria hub or Durban hub ect.

Checked again and the status now says on "2016.10.11 - At Office - first notification to recipient " but I didn't really receive any form of notification. This means it's at a local post office right, and I just need to go there prepared to pay a small fee and collect the droid box? Anything out of the ordinary they need at collection?

Call number on sapo website ask what branch parcel is at (most probably nearest) if overseas parcel ask for local number. Goto post office and fetch your parcel (take id just incase )

Correct, you can go pick it up. Make sure to take tracking # and if there is any other funny number noted on the tracking page, take that with as well, that other number is probably on the 1st notice you will receive. Those first notices sometimes take 7-14 days to reach me if I wait for that, which I nowadays skip and just go pick it up.

That's what a lot of the cheap 'ship and forget' tv boxes do after turning them on, they are doa or non functional.
Never buy cheap from any no-name tv box manufacturer with no track record.
Avoid any 'MXQ(the worst)', 'Nexbox', 'Scishion', 'Eny', 'Acemax' or Tronsmart(sometimes usable) in it's name, they have the worst support or aren’t even tested before shipping.

You are very correct. I got this http://m.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_401685.html?gclid=CJCJgoeu9s8CFSwq0wodN_gJXQ , lesson learnt

It has no bluetooth and very slow read/write storage which cause crashes and slowness.
Cheap tv boxes usually has slow RAM and EMMC storage and that is not something a lot of people know about but it makes a huge difference to the stability of a product. You don't want an app to take 3 minutes to install instead of a quarter of that time or want to see force close messages regularly.

I have the same chipset RK3229 which is actually very good for video playback but a different tv box.
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...G-with-BT4-0-support/1710008_32750590406.html

I just asked the manufacturer and they said they are getting Marshmallow firmware this week, probably the only RK3229 manufacturer that is releasing it for their device.
I think it will help a lot then apps like Xposed framework & Teamviewer QS will also work which is a problem on a lot of Lollipop firmwares.

If you use a RK3229/RK3288 device you should also use RKMC Kodi and install the required patches.
Videos play very smooth, 10-bit h264, 10-bit h265, 4K.

If you want a really good media player, wait for the RK3399 that will be released in November.
USB 3.0, 3 wifi antennas, A72 CPU, Mali T864 GPU, be able to run Marshmallow, ChromeOS and Linux.

Thanks for all the information will use this next time when I get a proper player

When ordering from gearbest, do you guys use postal address or street address?

Postal if shipping via China snail mail, but either will work. Street address just means you get a slip in the post box.
