TrackMania Nations Forever

I just purchased TrackMania United Forever, $39.99 which works out to R304.

However, the download is 1.2GB so I've e-mailed the guys at the support e-mail I got and asked them if it's possible to do 1 of 2 things, 1) upload it to the UUNET FTP or 2) send me the DVD via post.

Will see what they have to say.

They'll probably laugh at option 1, but as I've learnt in life, It never hurts to ask.

Why would you purchase TMUF gdi ? Was it for those 3D Glasses ? :D You could have just buy TMU (R136 @ Take 2) and download the free upgrade and you also would have had TMUF, anyhow that's what I intend on doing, anyhow but to each his own ;)

I dont want the 3D glasses thank you, I like too much like a nerd already, I don't need to be seeing wearing those ;) haha.

LOL oh ok, but anyhow would love to see what the game looks like with them on. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands :)

I'm not getting the 3D glasses boet, wasn't offered to me, just the digital download of the game as well as the CD key, that's all I got :(

Yip, didn't know about the Take2 price either.....that's "red hanger sale" territory :D And with the TMUF file being hosted locally at agasa, it makes for a no-brainer purchase I think

Hi guys,

I wouldn't mind joining and try to help SA win :p I used to be pretty good at the first TMN.

Just some questions I need answered if you will:

1. If I download the free version is it still played on the same servers as TMUF? In other words I won't see you guys and be on the same ranking list or will I and will only have less features?
2. Can this game be played on Linux or do I really have to install my pesky Vista?

I can't answer any of your questions confidently... sorry, but I'm sure Luke7777 can, if you can play with us, I can't wait to see you on the servers, just remember to add gdiza as a buddy ;)

guys ive been enjoying playing tmnf on the kloppies server. But eish, its been eating my bandwidth. Anyone know fo a locally based server, so i can rather use local bandwidth.

Just for interest sake, how much bandwidth has the game been using for you? E.G. for 1 hour's play?

Oh and i play as jonnojonno , i was too lazy to think up something unique while installing the game.

I like to play on different servers, this way, I play against different people and get different types of games going.

Normally, I find that playing on 1 server you end up finding the guys who dominate and then it's just boring, playing on different servers, you get completely different game experiences.

You bought via Steam right? You might be able to grab the TMUF update from the local AGASA ftp server, and extract the installed files from there and drop them into appropriate places in your steamapps folder. If you then run a Verify Game Cache, it should only download stuff thats missing or needs updating.

I did this when I bought the Unreal Pack, I had *ahem* alternatively obtained copies of all the games already, from which I extracted the files. Saved me about 10+ GB of downloads :)

1. TMNF & TMUF can play together on the same servers
2. Probably some sort of Win flavour...
btw, what is/was your TMN nick ?

My nick was Jonn74. I would often get a top 5 spot on SA servers long ago but I'm sure that is not the case anymore :p the best for me was playing on the US Lets Rock server and getting the SA Anthem to play for them when I won :D:D:D

I will probably change my nick if possible on the new one but hopefully I can get it to run on Ubuntu on WINE or something without installing windows :/

You bought via Steam right?

No, I bought it via this URL: http://focus.gamesplanet.com/game-trackmania-united-forever.html

I think what I'm going to do is just buy 2x 1GB accounts from WA, download it, then burn it to DVD along with the CD key etc.

I'm really not a huge fan of Steam, I don't wanna have to redownload it down the line when my PC crashes or whatever.

The AGASA ftp has the file, but its 924455 KB in file size, the one from the actual web site is 1.1GB so that's 200MB more I'm missing :(

Plus, the more players there are on the server, the more points you score and the quicker your rank will improve, so if you keep on playing on a server with only a few players for e.g 10 or less, then your going to be playing a looooong time to improve your ranking :)

Ah ok. I'm not sure why the size discrepancy. While the AGASA one is an 'update', it installs into an entirely different folder. Maybe it copies some stuff over from the existing TMU installation.

I like Steam, they have some really good deals, and its dead simple to back up your stuff.

Downloading now at a decent ±200k a sec :(

I have a 4mb connection man! I can only really be happy with 399kb! :)

Hi all,

I've ripped the OST (Original Soundtrack) of TrackMania United Forever and converted it to .mp3 and uploaded it to ftp.uunet.co.za/pub/incoming/trackmaniaost

I ripped it at 192 kbps :)

Enjoy!

By 10:30pm on the 14th May 2008, the upload should be complete and you can download the .mp3 's - just remember, take 1 file at a time because the server only accepts 1 concurrent connection at a time
