TurboFlo

Ok, using a simple thing that mother nature gave you called a brain... what do you think?

About as well as proposing with a fake diamond engagement ring probably...

It seems all the comments are positive and a lot of them say that it works.

Yes, you appear to be a very credible source. Public servants proving their worth again...

Are the devices SABS approved?.. and if they work, why then are they not installed on all vehicles at the factory?

2 simple questions you should have asked, and you would have gotten a no to the first one, and the 2nd question should have pointed you to the fact that its complete bollocks and doesn't work..

See, a simple application of your brain (which you are supposed to have somewhere) would have answered your question.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

This forum is such a good place for advice.

Pooky, Car Magazine (hope they're a reliable source :p) has tested numerous of those "fuel-saving" devices and found that they are all crap. It only works because you unconsciously change your driving style when fitting it to your car.

Have you seen the air passages that go to the engine? It's impossible for the air to remain turbulent all the way to the combustion chambers. The air will only remain turbulent if there aren't any obstructions in its path. Have a good look at the throttle butterfly (big brass disc) in your car - only opens fully when you depress the accelerator completely...

Anyway, that's my reason for disbelieving the claims. Rather fit a freeflow exhaust system.

Yeah those don't work and neither does the one above. It will only restrict the flow of air.

In no way can this be compared to a turbo charger, the entire idea is laughable.

Take off the air filter on a car and pull the throttle fully open and you'll see just how much air is drawn in on the motor, then you'll realize just how much air a small fan like that would need to flow. If it's a really powerful fan it could help a tiny bit on idle (doubtful tho), more than that, not even a chance.

Looks like a k@k implementation of turbo charger theory which uses a vastly underpowered fan as opposed to a proper turbo's turbine.

This is the same as the TurboNator. It's a joke. Reminds me of those little magnetic rings you could clip around your fuel line to apparently save fuel.

"Hi my name is Gerhard van der Woerd, I installed turboflo on my 2.5l Diesel bakkie and i got a moerse saving, i now get 40km per liter and this thing feels like it can eat a GTI i promise on my mothers jean pant!"

If you want to see something, and your car uses a carburetor system then unbolt the carburetor, put a fine stainless steel mesh on the inlet, and bolt the carb back on top, ensuring the gap between the inlet manifold, mesh and carb is sealed up to prevent air leaks.

A drop in performance will be noted, but fuel use will be down as the air/fuel gets mixed properly before it enters the engine.

Can't vouch for it, only heard from somebody who tried it as he got gautvol of bolts falling into his carb and messing up his engine. (he had a souped-up engine).
