Hi guys, I need urgent TV purchasing advice. Suffering from Analysis Paralysis I simply cannot make up my mind

I'm not interested in any Smart features, living in a Klein Dorpie has it perks but blazing fast Internet isn't one of them. Since most TV's have this functionality these days I probably don't have an option.

All I really want is a Big TV for watching Sport (90% use case) ... Motorsport, Football, Tennis, Rugby, Cricket etc etc via DSTV decoder. Other 10% will be late night Discovery, National Geographic or History on the very odd occasion. Maybe a Sunday evening movie once a month.

I'm sitting about 2.6m - 2.8m away from my TV. I was initially looking at 55" offerings but buy once, cry once has me looking at 65" Models as well. I was really thinking of spending 10k max but if the missus isn't watching I may get away with another 5-6k on top of that.

Motion Blur is probably my biggest concern. I also really prefer a central stand over 2 flimsy legs.

Samsung 65Q60T / Samsung 65TU8500 / Samsung 55Q70T all caught the eye. Wish I had enough funds for a 80R or 80T

Hope that is enough info. Any Recommendations?

I would def not go for a 65inch with your distance. Having said that, I don't follow the standard guides as I feel it is too close. I currently have a 55inch, sitting 3m away from the couch. And then I have a 65inch, sitting 5m away.

55Q70T would be my choice.

Thanx guys. Just returned from a friend who has an older 42". At 2.5m distance it's actually not an unpleasant size.

55" would seem more than adequate for my needs. If not overkill. 65" would just be ridiculous. Leaning towards the 55Q70T

You only think your TV is too small once you got used to a bigger one.
We went from a 50" plasma to a 65" LED, and after the first half an hour, the 65" just seems "normal".
You are also more likely to notice lower quality content on a larger TV. Even my wife now notices when the content is 720p.

That said, we are about 2.5 - 3m away from the TV, and I can easily see us upgrading to a 75" next time around. Maybe even 80"?

We have a 2 year old Samsung entry level 4K TV. I don't notice any motion blur, so I think you will be fine with whichever Samsung model you choose and either the 55" or 65" will be great.
The Q models seem to have much better HDR than what we have in our TV, although it's probably wasted if you only watch DSTV on the thing.

Q70T has better motion handling for sport, but old people don’t notice.

Buy the AIM 58" at PnP. - R4500 randela's.
Can't go wrong with that. I bought one this week, my younger brother bought 2. We're both extremely happy.
Not a smart set, supports HDMI2 (so 60hz/4k).

Settled for the 55Q70T. Was delivered today, I'm sure glad I didn't go bigger. Picture quality is stupendous, even for normal dstv signal.

Thanx for all the input. Of course with the smart functionality I quickly realised my 30 year old Stereo receiver simply won't cut the mustard so I'm off searching for a cheap AV receiver :X3:

If you go too big it will be like sitting in the front row of a cinema, you will constantly be looking left and right at the screen to see the action, like watching Wimbledon boring tennis, you get my drift. Stiff neck.

I sit 4 metres away from my 55" and that is a really nice comfortable size without being stupid and wasting money

Oh wait, you just replied, ignore my message then, well done on your purchase
