TV Box not Google "Certified"

Why do you insist on going against the grain of advice being offered?

No it was just for interest sake, not going to buy another tv box. This was my first and last tv box. Wanted to support the tv box industry but was taken for my money for a useless product. Will just cut my losses and move on.

Always best to do some research prior to buying something new... Had you posted here before hand you would have discovered the pros and cons to certain devices... But as they say, school fees, the cost we pay to learn

You are absolutely right, one should learn the habit of doing research before buying anything, ask questions on forums, make sure you have all the relevant information. I will definitely do this in future.

I just bought the Telkom Lit box and everything works Dstv,Netflix. Its working like a charm i knew Telkom will have a google sertified one

Yes for sure if i had known abt the certification issue id definitely have bought a certified box instead. However it seems not even certified devices are safe from Google "Certification"
One day your device may be certified and the next day its unexpicably uncertified. Android is starting to become a problem.
Android will never compare to Microsoft. I even miss my Windows Phone

Aaah...and here I thought Android is supposed to be so much better and more amazing?

Just seems like all round fail to me.

Haven’t had these problems in my Apple TV. Have you?

Anyone know how to get it running on a non google certified device?

It's really easy to buy a Android box that has been rubber stamped and approved by Google.

If you do that, you really don't have issues.

Plus, they watch YouTube in UHD and have been doing so for years ...

Hi thank you for your reply.
I also downloaded and installed the DSTV Now app from other sites however it will not work.
Could you maybe please provide me with information how I can also get DSTV Now to work on my TV Box if possible?
Id really be very grateful.

Jennifer

This is what I did, just get the older version, it works fine.
Hi, I tried this advice that you gave. I had a Telkom LTI box but it tried to update when we had a power outage, now that box is no more. I stay in a little mining town with not to many choices when you meed electronics, so we bought an H96 Max 4k ultra HD tv box. Do you have any other ideas to work around the issue?

If you have a Lit box that was bricked during a power outage then please phone Nology on 010 824 0040. The team will be able to recover the device for you and flash it with the latest firmware. The only cost to you is the shipping to and from our offices.

Hi all

I have a nice TV Box with Android 7.1 I recently bought on amazon.co.uk, however it is not Google "certified" so I cannot download and install DSTV Now.
Is there a way to certify my TV Box so I do not have issues to download and install applications?
I see this is a common problem with TV Boxes after googling this problem.
I wonder if this is because TV Boxes is still a new thing and will be sorted out with time?
If you are struggling to install the DSTV app on your non certified Google android tv box...try these steps. First download and install the latest (HMS) Huawei Mobile Service APK on your tv box from the Huawei Gallery or any other websites offering the HMS Core APK"s. Then search on chrome browser for dstv older versions ( Mydstv version 2.7). Download and install it. Once both apps are installed, go to unknown sources and grant permission. Also under settings, click on permissions, scroll down to storage and slide from grey to blue. Go back to main menu, click on apps and the Mydstv app will show. Login with your phone/email and card number. I hope this works on your non certified Google tv box.
