Hi all

I have a nice TV Box with Android 7.1 I recently bought on amazon.co.uk, however it is not Google "certified" so I cannot download and install DSTV Now.
Is there a way to certify my TV Box so I do not have issues to download and install applications?
I see this is a common problem with TV Boxes after googling this problem.
I wonder if this is because TV Boxes is still a new thing and will be sorted out with time?

Unfortunately not.
I have DStv now working on one of my uncertified boxes. It has to be sideloaded as it's not available in the playstore...

Hi thank you for your reply.
I also downloaded and installed the DSTV Now app from other sites however it will not work.
Could you maybe please provide me with information how I can also get DSTV Now to work on my TV Box if possible?
Id really be very grateful.

Jennifer

Yes, but it must be an older version. Doesn't work on my d**mned Fire TV Stick without some assistance.

Which version are you running?

This is what I did, just get the older version, it works fine.

Yep, older version works. Need to clear data from time to time as it brings up the certification error, but simple "clear app data" and re login and back to normal again

Thank you very much for information everyone I will try to install the older version and hopefully it will work :)
Also need a good working showmax app, anyone have a link for showmax?
Was also wondering if its possible to install an email app on my tv box to download and read email?

Download version 1.42.8 from here

I downloaded DSTV now from apkpure, there was only one download available, not sure if it is 1.42.8 however it also did not work, if i remember correctly, it said the device is rooted, must unroot device or install on an unrooted device.
I do not know why it would say that the device is rooted, its a new tv box and I did not play around with it to root it. Im just trying to install apps that I need which i bought the tv box for which is just the normal apps like dstv now and showmax.

I emailed the seller of my tv box explaining Google says the tv box is not "certified" and making it impossible to download and install applications. I received this reply:

Hi,Jennifer,

Thanks for your reach out.
Yeah,if you want to download apps from google play store, you can use your account to land on google play store.
Just landing on your google play store account and do not need certify.

Please try it again.
if there is any questions, please contact us directly.
Best regards
Jay

What box do you have? And did you consider installing a root-hide app?

I have this one:
Kingbox Latest K2 Android 7.1 TV Box 2GB+16GB Bluetooth 4.0 Support 4K (60Hz) Full HDMI/H.265/2.4GHz WiFi Android
The amazon link:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0785VZRTG/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1

I tried a root hide app but it will not work ( i installed it and opened it but nothing happens), in the Play Store it says it may not be compatible with my device. I then clicked on other root hide apps and it also says the app may not be compatible with my device so i did not even try to install the other apps.

Take it back to where u bought it and just buy a certified box. Less headaches. Telkom lit box and Mibox are certified and both about R1100.

I'm having this same issue with a Samsung tablet. It was working fine, now all of a sudden it is uncertified. WTF.

My Samsung S8 also! I flashed official Samsung firmware to it though recently and thought maybe I screwed up something. Cannot remember if it was certified before I changed the firmware. But it really did make me think the firmware caused it.

Yes for sure if i had known abt the certification issue id definitely have bought a certified box instead. However it seems not even certified devices are safe from Google "Certification"
One day your device may be certified and the next day its unexpicably uncertified. Android is starting to become a problem.

You can see if your device is certified by going to google play store-settings-device certification
