TV for PC gaming Plasma or LED?

I will be using the TV exclusively as a monitor connected to my laptop. I have heard stories of 'motion blur' and 'lag' on some LED TV's but have no first hand experience. Please let me know which device would be better for gaming on.

If by "no first hand experience" you mean you've never used an LED TV? Or do you mean you've never seen or been bothered by these issues?

If it's the latter then the chances are you'll never notice the difference anyway and you can go either or.


It's also very dependant on what you want to spend.

Lower priced Plasmas can be terrible compared to equivalently priced LED/LCD's. Midrange Plasma can be much better depending on lighting conditions (screens without anti-glare filters causing reflections).


Other things like how close you plan to sit to the thing as well as how big you want to go also play major roles in these decisions. Plasma are generally a lot warmer than LEDs so you don't want to get too up close and personal.

Iv used an LED TV and Plasma but never tried gaming on an LED TV. Gaming on the Plasma TV was fine but I am attracted to the slim design of LED's and their brightness. But I am just cautious about the motion blur, which is apparently even evident while watching sports.

I used to use a 47" LCD as a PC screen. This was about 3 years ago so maybe technology has changed. Plasmas may have image retention issues after a while if using the screen for PC. I also found that text seemed slightly more crisper when viewed from close up on my LCD versus my friends plasma. LED is just LCD with LED back-lighting.
