Good day,

We have a SD PVR and currently I use tv 2. I have a tv link eye and it always worked perfectly and I could watch tv and change channels freely. It then stopped working and did not pick up the remote anymore. I then thought the eye is faulty and bought a new one. However, the problem still persists. The remote is not picking up, but it picks up now and then randomly. I have tried everything and even swapped between the eyes, but nothing is working. I have tried 2 different remotes as well. The red light comes on in the piece that is plugged into the tv, but it does not pick up the remote. I am fedup and not sure what the problem can possibly be?? Should I go buy another eye tomorrow??

Please help.

Is it still programmed and selected on the decoder.

Is the remote setup correctly

Use your cell camera to see if your remote led is fine.

You can also take it to dstv office to test.

Thank you for the reply.

The remote setup is fine as it sometimes decides to suddenly work. However, for 2 days now, it has not worked at all.
When you say use my cell camera? Please explain?

Is it possible that the cable that comes from the decoder is faulty? I am renting and have access to tv 2, therefore cannot check myself. but with enough advice, I can ask them to check?

Thank you,

Not the remote. That works great and shows a bright light, I have also put in fresh batteries not long ago.
What next?

How many TV eyes do you have? Sounds like the system is borderline overloaded, check all the coax wires that the shielding (outer bit) isn't touching any of the inner wire where you plug each end of the coax cables in

Only one. I have checked the coax cable. I'm not sure what you mean when you say the inner wire? Do you mean of the coax cable itself?

Yeah, unfortunately I'm not too clued up on the correct terminology here, but the coax cable has 2 parts to it, the inner solid wire and the outer flexible wire (which I assume is used for shielding) if those two touch, even slightly the red light on the eye won't be off, but won't transmit anything either. So just check that each end of the coax cable is good, and no one has damaged the cable when vacuuming under the TV cabinet or something

It happend to my SD decoder as well, used original multichoice eye.

If you switch the TV link on and off on software and the light comes on on the eye, then its the decoder.

I had to swop twice to get that working (the decoder).

Got fed up and bought Explora, and sold the second TV

Hope you are close to a Multichoce tech centre

Now that you say that, I saw the other day that the dstv power supply is so weak, it just operate the decoder. The tv tech test it by putting a 12volt 20 watt globe on the power supply, if it lids, then its good.

Who ever still uses DStv and this TV link thing. Make sure the aerial plug makes proper contact. You can use pliers to tighten up the middle pin, if the connection is too loose the TV link can't get enough power to function properly. Even if the LED is on.
