TV Tuner recommendation required

Hi there,

My previous TV tuner was taken out by a freak lightning storm. I am currently running on my backup USB tuner but it's quality is substantially worse than the PCI version I had. I use the TV tuner to record the feed from security cameras.

I don't technically need a TV tuner actually just something that can accept a PAL AV input.

Can anybody recommend a good card and a supplier? A URL would be epic!

My old one was a LeadTek TV2000XP Global.

The USB tuner that I have is a Hauppauge and I'm not impressed with the quality of the device but even less so with the fact that you can't just download the latest version of the software. It requires the original CD and if you've thrown the CD away they expect you to buy it again.

Aside from that I will have a look at that model. How much are you looking for?
 
I agree that PCI tuners seem to outperform USB. I'm using a KWorld PVR cheapie which I got when my expensive Hauppauge packed in a couple of years ago, I can't recall noticing a difference in picture quality at the time.

Esquire have some PCI KWorld Tuners in stock at around R200 (not the same model I have) which might be worth looking at.

Thanks, I will have a look at Esquire. Any chance you have a pricelist available?

the unit stk#KW-PVR-TV7134SE is the correct replacement on what you got currently
I can also confirm that we have stock in PE branch speak to Warrick or JR price is R199.00 excl

Hi Esquire, any chance you have stock at Midrand?
 
Sadly there is no stock at Midrand, not even for the Manhattan. Any chance they could bring it up from PE?
 
Please let me who told there is no stock in Midrand as we do have stocks I have just checked
I thought you were in PE as that what your locations said that is why I referred you to the PE branch :)
My eyes may have been playing tricks on me (Need to do another laser op)

Anyways there is stocks in Midrand and in the Xpress Store
 
Hi Esquire, I'm afraid I don't have the name of the person who told me. I phoned in and the first sales person couldn't find the stock code. He then put me through to somebody else who found it but said that you have no stock.

I have meanwhile been able to secure myself a login, so I will use that from now on. Thank you for your help!
