TV

For the record, IMO, your claiming 1366x768 is too low is laughable! Yeah, DSTV HD/SS HD must look cr@p on a 50" HD screen...

I watch 720p on a 46" Samsung LFD. It looks good but I can see it's only using around 1/3 of the display. I sure would like 1080p but my lappie is underpowered. Will probably get a WD player soon. I sure would be disappointed if my R1000 player can output more than my 46"+ display can ...

you people need to get over this HD vs FHD debate... if you got the money, then great... go ahead and get the biggest FHD LCD screen you can afford but then dont bitch when you hook it up to SD tv and it looks k@k.

if you gonna watch bluray day in and day out (and you think you gonna notice the difference compared to 720p, or sit 1 m from the TV) then go ahead.

IMHO its all about epeen

What you pay for it?

I got it from Makro for R9k.

It was either the 50" plasma, or a FHD 40". For my needs, the 50" was the winner by far. I'm not buying bluray any time soon, uh ever, so I'm not fazed about having the res. I just wanted a big ass awesome screen that could handle Xbox. I often play 4 player split screen COD, so having the extra screen size really helps with that.

Was that the PS50C430 as well?

I jumped on the Makro special for R7999 and then got a further R300 discount from Game as they advertised for R10999 and will beat any price as well as give you 10 off of the difference.

Awesomeness for R7699, has to be my best purchase is the last 5 years.

Yeah, thanks for that! I think that is the same one, but it wasn't on special this time :), plus i couldn't find it at Game. At the Samsung store here they had it for R10900 'on special'. Luckily i didn't fall for that one.

I just bought the PS42C431 today and the screen was cracked so Audio Vision are going to swop it out tomorrow. But still. I'm back at work tomorrow and a grumpy panda.

To answer the question of what to choose - take your budget and buy the TV that looks the best to you. What looks best is often subjective and differs from person to person. If you like the LCD then buy it.

I chose the Plasma for sport and price. There is no way I could afford another 3-5k for a really good LCD in that size range.

ag no man thats really bad luck!! :(

I have the same tv as you... I  it

They delivered the new one to me and I've been flipping through different channels on SD DSTV. I can't believe this thing only set me back 6k.

Sadly I suspect shenna****ns with AudioVision. The replacement TV came with a lot of protective tape the broken one didn't have. They told me it was the last boxed set but I'm thinking it was the demo unit.

BIG THANK YOU TO ALL

Ja, dont

i wanted to follow the same route, rather get the Samsung Plasma for R5800, for SD, TV and sports it will work like a dream, eveyone here knows Plasma is better than LCD when it comes to SD, Sports and TV

Agreed. Definitely get the Samsung plasma. No question about it.

Get the Samsung 42" plasma from Game. Going for R5800. Better suited for SD and sport. I have one and love it, as do many others.

and others that have give advice.

Bought the Samsung PS42C430A1 42" Plasma TV from Game , upgraded my cellphone contract at the same time (got R3200 voucher ) , only paid R 2600.00 !! :)

Agreed. A small price to pay for superior image quality/technology at that price compared to LCD, even a double the price LCD and the plasma wins. I can't believe how cheap they are, since they cost more to make than LCDs. Just shows that LCD manufacturers are absolutely coining it, and even pulling the wool a bit.

It's just strange to watch how your warped little world turns around and works ;)

I often logon purely to see what junk you've sprouted.

Hehe ... I'm happy ;) But in his world, conversations go something like this :

Sony CEO : Guys, we've got this plasma technology right now ... Best out there. Nothing beats black levels, vibrant colours, users can watch golf, cheap to produce and best of all - its already accepted in the market.

However I wish to ditch this and go for the worst technology out - where users will dislike watching TV to large extent. It's grey, dull, boring, the entire screen blurs and its got to play catch up to our superior plasma

Customer : WOW! The plasma on right is the best thing out! It looks MUCH better than the LCD on the left
Salesman : LCD is better
Customer : Ok! I'll take one, please!

Its just so unreal that he thinks users buying LCDs are droids led to believe anything :/

His reasoning for people buying LCD is that salesman push them.

The mind boggles

You'd do well at writing children's fantasy novels, you old drama queen.
