If I have a server's IP address, how do I access it via the network (LAN)?
If I have a website's IP address, how do I see it's name?

Thanks in advance. :)

You'd be able to access the server o the LAN in the same way as using it's name.
For the website you may not be as lucky. Sites hosted on shared hosting will all have the same IP address, and will rely on the url to know which site to serve.

for example:
http://209.85.229.147

tracert 209.85.229.147

Tracing route to ww-in-f147.google.com [209.85.229.147]

Problem again comes in with shared hosting:

Pinging rwnc.co.za [196.30.127.12] with 32 bytes of

Reply from 196.30.127.12: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=50
Reply from 196.30.127.12: bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=50
Reply from 196.30.127.12: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=50
Reply from 196.30.127.12: bytes=32 time=38ms TTL=50

but the reverse is not true

nslookup 196.30.127.12
Server: dnscache1.is.co.za
Address: 168.210.2.2

Name: chef.webonline.biz
Address: 196.30.127.12

www.rwnc.co.za is being hosted on the same server as countless other websites.
