Two motorcyclists were arrested on Friday after they were caught speeding on the N1 South, said the Johannesburg metro police department.

The first motorcyclist was caught driving his BMW motorbike at 271km/h in a 120km/h zone, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

"He failed to stop for officers near Maraisburg," said Minnaar, adding that the bike was without number plates.

"Little did he know that there was a roadblock about 3km further down on the freeway."

The man was arrested and charged with reckless driving and failing to stop for officers in uniform.

He would appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

" Also appearing on Tuesday will be a 21-year-old male who was caught riding his motorbike at 206km/h," said Minnaar.

He was arrested on the same stretch of road.

"He was on his motorcycle with a female passenger," said Minnaar.

His bike was also without number plates.

Minnaar said bikers removed their plates in order to cheat the speed cameras monitoring the roads.

More A-hole bikers**!

* Not all motorbike users are A-holes
* Speeding Car drivers are also A-holes

Sooner or later you will be caught driving without your numberplate.

And may it be before you cause a fatal accident.

your honor
i was going too fast to see an officer wanting me to stop.

imbecile, a small rock or animal on the road would have been his end

The cops should sell their bikes and give the money to charity. Idiots like this don't belong on our roads.

My opinion, all cars and motorbikes should be limited to 140Km/h by the manufacturer. It may be an unpopular opinion to many but that is just because they are selfish ********

2 things
- Ze dzermins vil be very angry on zer autobahns.
- In some emergencies, you would want to travel faster than that to get a loved one to a medical facility. So call me selfish for thinking that is a stupid idea.

It is still illegal to speed, if fact you probably will just make more mistakes speeding during an emergency.

The term "Japanese domestic market" (JDM, also "Japanese domestic model") refers to Japan's home market for Japanese vehicles and components.

For the importer, these terms refer to Japanese-brand automobiles and parts designed to conform to Japanese regulations and to suit Japanese buyers.

Compared to the United States where vehicle owners are now owning vehicles for a longer period of time, with the average age of the American vehicle fleet at 10.8 years, Japanese owners contend with a strict motor vehicle inspection system which forces them to pay more each year to own a car, or to sell or scrap it as the costs increase.

Compliance encourages a burgeoning export business in legitimate and gray markets.

Japanese domestic market vehicles may differ greatly from the cars that Japanese manufacturers build for export and vehicles derived from the same platforms built in other countries. The Japanese car owner looks more toward innovation than long-term ownership which forces Japanese carmakers to refine new technologies and designs first in domestic vehicles.

In 1988, JDM cars were limited by voluntary self-restraints among manufacturers to 280 horsepower (PS) (276 hp) and a top speed of 190 km/h (118.1 mph), limits imposed by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) for safety.

The horsepower limit was lifted in 2004 but the speed limit of 190 km/h (118.1 mph) remains in effect.

Many JDM cars have speedometers that register up to 180 km/h (111.8 mph) (certain Nissans go up to 190 km/h, and the GT-R has a mechanism that removes the speed limiter on a track) but all have speed limiters.

At bgotapen, yes and all guns should only shoot 30 cm, all knives have 1 cm blades, bicycles limited to pedestrian speed...
Sorry, but the human being has all these marvelous opportunities and freedoms,to limit / ban them never has nor will be the answer. The only way is through intelligent use....possibly mission impossible, but the only way.
Perhaps more and easier outlets...ie. more and easier access to shooting ranges, race tracks etc.
I've spent a number of Sat/Sundays with a m-cycle on a track, come Monday commute, in the slow lane shocked at the way people drive and especially the following distances.

+1 I cannot believe how stupid I was when I was a youngster. A few of my fellow morons did not survive our biking days and one was severely crippled for life. Bikes then were not remotely as powerful as today.

Sure people can do whatever they want to do when they are on their own. Like shoot at a shooting range, or wield long knives in their home drive at 250kmh on a track

However in the public it would be nice to know that when I am driving some moron won't rear end me at 200kmh when he lost control or randomly shoot at tagets in public or hone his flaying skills in the air around children.

The freedom point is moot, you aren't free now. you never have been and never will be.

So you would let a loved one die because you are driving Miss Daisy? "Sorry hun, but the speed limit is 60. See if you can stay alive a wee bit longer. I don't want to get a speeding fine". I hope we are not related and I never have to rely on you!

EDIT: In fact, it would seem you are the selfish one here

Because getting arrested will get you to the hospital so much quicker or driving into a wall will help too!

How old are you? Do you have loved ones? Have you ever been in a situation where you were the only one around a person who is in desperate need of medical care?
