There are other bigger issues than need fixing long before speeding.

Pedestrians on highways.
Unroadworthy vehicles
Driver Education.



None of those make any money though....so let's worry about speeding instead.

Although speeding does often help with natural selection. Sadly it also often takes the lives of those most deserving to live.

Here's this one taxi driver that amazes me. Every time I see him coming from the front, he is lying in the corner between the door and seat and texting. I swear I have never seen this guy with his eyes on the road, let alone his hands on the steering wheel. He transport people who works with me, they said that he almost ran over traffic circles a few times.

And despite what you want to believe, speeding is also an issue. But the 'stop prosecuting speedsters and focus on real issues' argument has been held up by people who want to justify speeding for years now.

We do not have roads where you are allowed to drive over 120. An issue doesn't disappear because there are other 'bigger' issues around. Yes, people with junked up skedonks must also be prosecuted because I am tired of getting stuck behind them doing 30km/h in peak traffic while their car exudes fumes like a petrol refinery.

All those things you mentioned needs to be addressed, but so must speeding. I'm not dumb enough to think we should ignore certain issues entirely and focus on others. Speeding on our roads is a problem, because we do not have the facilities set out to drive more than 120km/h. If you speed, you're driving recklessly, the same as someone who drives a car that should rightfully have been scrapped 10 years ago.

It's not the big evil people like to think it is.

Other problems are much worse.

There are more **** drivers at 80km/h that worry me than the few speedsters.

At least we seem to agree on one thing. Cars driving too slowly on our highways is as much if not a bigger problem than speeding ones.

A slow car is much more dangerous in my opinion, especially when you can't see it because the lights don't work etc.

But if the other car is speeding then the danger multiplies. Surely the shocking condition of roads, driving skill and vehicles is all the more reason not to tolerate speeding.

Yeah, maybe educate them about the dangers of speeding at such reckless speeds so that they don't do it... jip, you thought that one through ;)

If people stopped doing it so much, the authorities would need to focus their attention on the "more difficult to catch" issues to justify their existence/generate income...
