I'm watching the Ubuntu website like a hawk waiting for the 11.10 download link.

Can't wait to download and install it!

Anyone else as amped up as I am?

Not really, I'm still on 10.04. Don't want to go to anything else, because I don't want to put in the work to get my system usable and every upgrade broke something (10.10 - mouse, 11.04 graphics - did clean installs instead of upgrades and the problems persisted). I could've probably fixed those issues with time and googling, but I wasn't (and still aren't) in the mood.
 
Also still on 10.04. I only ever bother to move to the LTS releases. I also don't think I've ever adopted a new version of Ubuntu until it's been out for at least a week or 2. Let those obsessed with having the absolute latest version suffer the agony of bugs.
 
I've been on 11.10 for a while now, since Alpha 3 or something. Sadly thats what I needed to do to get VA-API acceleration on Ubuntu for my Icedale motherboard. At 1st it was fairly unstable, but the last month or so I've rarely ever had problems. I think the biggest adjustment was to get auto login working again for my XBMC with the new login manager, LightDM I think.
 
Update Manager says its there, but if I click upgrade it fails saying cant download release notes

Suppose it will work in a couple of hours.
 
This thing called Unity is the biggest festering pile of dog schite ever!!! How can people like this?

I have to click my trough the menu to find the right app assuming I have the right category. I have to move my mouse all the way to the top panel to access windows menus. The bar on the left of the screen is eating my fscking desktop real estate. Plymouth display is trashed during bootup. Everything feels really SLOW. The fuzzy fonts and big icons suck. This is truely worthy of a Hitler video!!!

WTF possessed them?

I'm also running 10.04 LTS on my personal systems, mainly because of Unity, but am however looking forward to see if they got the bugs sorted with this release. Saw a couple of Youtube vids, and it looks like it's going to rock, especially with Compiz.
 
Don't see the distribution upgrade in update manager yet - should it be appearing already?
 
Also if one upgrades, will it automatically use the new LightDM window manager? Or stick with GDM?
 
Nope, finds nothing. Weird, cos I have been getting the kernel upgrades.

I was about to recommend updating your sources.list file, but rather not..... last time I tried that I borked my install, although previously it would work fine.
 
Got the alternate iso, ran the upgrade, got to 30 seconds remaining, and it told me it couldn't install some perl package and was aborting the entire upgrade >.<
