Cool Kubuntu is out too, you can choose the SA server from the download list.

Alternate can be used for upgrading and also for text-based install. Few other differences too, like it's not a Live disc.

.. whats the difference between the alternate and the desktop?

Alternate CD gives additional installation options. No Live CD. I used it to install LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project).

Thin Clients (old p2 and p3) only has network boot loader installed.

I have decided to formally apply the "If it ain't broke" principle by not upgrading my installation just yet :p

How much cap (approximately) would I lose by updating from 8.04 to 8.10 using these steps?

From your packages, it should be around 1000MB if I remember correctly. I had a little more packages and had a 2400MB upgrade to do

Luckily I have access to Tuk's electrical labs and updated at 12MB per second :D

Going to be a lot of fun upgrading with only local cap... :D

I havn't used ubuntu in a while. Last one was 7.10.

Can someone please post a direct link to the iso (the one that I can burn to disc, install or run without installing, like my 7.10 disc. Note sure what it was called.
