Ubuntu directory backup (offsite)

Hello everyone!

I run a minecraft server, and was wondering if I can backup my world directory onto my webserver (shared hosting). I would assume FTP would be easiest.

If anyone could help me, with a program/script it would be awesome!

OS: ubuntu 14.05 x64

simply use a tar based script ..... plus a cronjob

tar /dir/path/`date '+%Y-%m-%d'`.gzip

For the FTP part, have a look at ".netrc" for FTP automation. I would also recommend the "tnftp" cli client. It comes standard with some Linux variants, so it should be in the Ubuntu repo as well.
